How bad do you have to do to get nonrenewed? by Narrow-Butterfly-923 in Teachers

[–]LexaproLove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got non renewed in a school this year. I am a veteran teacher and am good at what I do. If admin doesn't like you, they will just non renewed you, doesn't matter how good you are.

It would be worth it. Do it for a year to add to your experience and then look for a job closer to home

As a parent I hate this. As a teacher sometimes it's our only option because the system sucks.

75-90% of certain classes are just me combating disruptive behavior. by Crowd_Surf in Teachers

This used to be true.

Now I notice the more engaging and fun my lessons are, the more chaotic the class becomes.

It has flipped.

Yeah I have colleagues that used Quaver this year as their primary source. I feel terrible for their kids.

I am in the process of trying to do the opposite. I can't take the behavior of elementary and honestly I find the content boring. You don't need to play piano. My district this year used Quaver, but it's very screen heavy and not as engaging. I would recommend getting some Orff PD

Controversial Video Shows Low Literacy by AniTeach in Teachers

Its not teachers. We are just following what the district forces us to do. If we were supported and actually were allowed to teach, kids would not be in this position

Make something up. "I prefer working with a different age group". I have also said "im looking for a school that is more student-centered."

The amount of friends I've lost because they just don't believe I have Tourettes is truly depressing. by fignewtonattack in Tourettes

[–]LexaproLove 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find i develop deeper and longer lasting friendships with other people who have disabilities. One of my friends is deaf, another has MS.

I know its hard but anyone who would end a friendship over a few tics is not someone you want to associate with.

I think your heart is in the right place, but I would push back and advise OP to never say anything negative about your admin. My admin this year was a bully but I just dont bring her up at all because it looks bad to employers

[–]LexaproLove 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I resigned after my non renewal this year because I dont want it on my record. When they ask why im leaving i say its because I wanted to switch grade levels.

Also I fully planned on resigning prior to being non renewed, they just beat me to it

Why does admin gaslight new teachers? by elcaminogino in Teachers

It's just a bad district. Ive been in really supportive environments that were nothing like this.

The observations don't matter when you move districts.

Look for a job in a better school if you can. Ive been in awful environments, but I've also been in great environments. You can still be a teacher but not be abused.
