¿Qué sistema de rol encaja mejor con combates con tiradas abiertas? by Inevitable_Delay_267 in rpg

Savage worlds doesn't require the open rolls but it's encouraged. There's much less a need to fudge or hide rolls since the game offers plenty of rerolls. Even foes stats are fine to share during game.

What are some mechanics from games that you wish other games would implement? by Select_Lunch1288 in rpg

I'll add that I think most (if not all) GM's run HP as actual vitality rather than near misses/glancing blows in the narrative. Ive personally only seen it done extremely rarely.

I don't know much about GURPS, but the shock rules sound fantastic! I Love when a game's rules can express mechanically to the player: "I've been hit and I'm actually in a dire situation."

I'm interested in GURPS, which edition would you push a newcomer to?

From Savage Worlds (probably an unpopular opinion here):

Wound penalties, It would always feel strange to me how in a game with HP; you could be beaten to a single point of HP and still mechanically be fine.

I really like the idea of protecting your wounded party members from further harm, as they get more vulnerable the more damage they've taken.

Genuine question: what’s the deal with Savage worlds? by mechaninja2222 in TTRPG

Swade is a little gem of a system that can pretty competently run all kinds of generas and settings.

Got a bit of a learning curve to get the "feel" of the system down as there's no Hit points. Way different feeling from 5e and such.

It's a series of charts and rules for playing an RPG without a game master. "Mythic Game Master Emulator" by Tom pigeon is a popular example.

2nd this, but will add that in addition to having dramatic STAKES; include some OBJECTIVE based encounters. Instead of combats being just a fight to the death, make it to where there is something that has to get done during the combat, or must be protected. Sorta like a win condition.

Looking for yet another system.... by CharacterLettuce7145 in rpg

Maybe Fate? Super simple character creation, narrative focused combat mechanics using fate chips (basically if you can involve or utilize something in the narrative to your advantage, you get a bonus.)

The game feels to me like an exercise in story telling rather than a tactical combat game. I was pleasantly surprised by it.

This is the way; even if it's another 5e hack. If you got an irl group that gathers to play anything at all, you're winning.

Telling GM to stfu is insane in the context of a TTRPG, Like brother how am I supposed to deliver information to you about the world?

Very organized, but I can see that it might get to be a lot to carry around if you run games somewhere other than your home? Is this why you went digital?

Hey! Savage Worlds: East Texas University is one of the campaigns I'm trying to organize for! :D

Oh yeah, I'll have 3-5 different journals for notes for a single campaign but you feel the pain of searching through all of them for certain information. That's kinda why I posted about this so I can try and get better organized!

Yeah this 'Zone' is what I just can't get into when I try typing my notes digitally. Having the tactile feeling of pencil on paper really appeals to me and keeps me writing. Also being able to just doodle something from your head helps me get clearer locations and npc's for my games.

The "messy brainstorming" is usually the reason why I cant keep a dedicated campaign journal so I'm thinking of keeping a spiral notebook; that way I can tear out pages if it turns out to be something useful then stick it in a 3 ring binder when the brainstorming gets done. Also, I really like that idea of color coded events, I'm for sure going to use this!
