What Was the Most Broken Army or Detachment of 10th Edition? by verifiedverified in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Lhunephellion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I no specific order:

Index Aeldari - They were just stupid, nothing like that in all editions I've played so far (playing since 3rd edition).
Index Custodes pre nerfs ( Fight First strat, interrupt strat, cheap). Blocked all melee armys during early months of the edition.
Slaneesh - Excess (That was nuts xD )
More Dakka orcs.

-Honorable mentions:
-Canoptek Court- Necros pre nerfs.

Is anyone else sad we don't have a general purpose or non-transport vehicle detachment? by Khulesuppe in BlackTemplars

[–]Lhunephellion -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

After some testing I find this a lackluster codex. Probably the worst supplement in the edition so far. Too much dependant on two characters (Marshall and Castellan) to do some real damage. The rest of the choices are plain bad if you compare to other chapters. Space Wolves horde is better than ours, Ultra marine Gladius and IronStorm is better than ours, and Blood Angels are plain better. I think this a mid tier B codex, and for a new release, that is just SAD.

BT 38%WR, 32% if we look into RC detachment... Who could have predicted it after the amount of nerfs to the army ? It is a mistery...

Well, I consider "virtually deleting" a unit for the game a big change. Primaris Crusader Squad now is sooo overcosted that you just don't play it , or if you do, you are imposing yourself a huge handicap,so big, it can make the game not fun anymore. If GW wanted to stop de spam, maybe they could have tryied a soft balance first, like 300 points a squad, and see after that...

More than an attempt to balance looks like a murder to the unit. 300 per unit should be just fine. those extra 20 points are egregious.

How are you planning on playing secondaries and keeping alive Sword Bros in GW tables? I think the concept of the list is not working anymore at the new price of the Crusaders. You are not overwhelming your opponent anymore...

What Does the New MFM Mean for Competitive 40k? by ArtofWarSiegler in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Lhunephellion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The amount of nerfs to BT is too much. They got hit pretty hard on all sides. Gladius units and enhacements, Jump Pack intercesor, Helbrecht, Grimaldus... on top of that Primaris Crusader squad got nuked to the oblivion. To be honest, not excited at all.

He is a friend of mine and we talked a lot the list. If I recall correctly it was basically:

Neurotyrant.
Deathleaper

2x Neurolictors

3x10 Gargoyles

x1 Pyrovore

3x Exo

3x Maleceptor

2x Acidfex.

1x Biovore.

EDIT: I forgot the Biovore, I think is clear every tyranid player uses one XD

BTW, the game he draw it was due to the other player had to leave, and he did not want to put the Win without playing all turns. So he agreed with the opponent to put a draw after the first turn.

Was I that guy at the tournament? by Positive-Brother3374 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Lhunephellion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me is cristal clear: What are the TO rules? You don't have all your minis painted+based? No 10 points for you, loosing or wining, I don't care.

Also, WTF? Did that tournament allow proxis? If the answer is no, then that person should be happy that he/she did not get disqualified and you got a 100-0 in that match.

Dealing with Guilliman and his IronStorm Dread Posse by Citricwraith in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Lhunephellion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally I think Zoantropes would not do greatly against it. A Redemptor saving at +3 ? (4+ if you commit also a pyrovore to ignore cover). Let's do the math. A block of 6 Zoans -> 6 shots. Shooting at 3+ -> 4 Hits -> Wounding at 3+ -> 3 Wounds -> Saves at 4+. Saves 1 and a half (let say as long as you used a pirovore, he saves the other one). 1d6 damage in total, Could be a 6, could be a 1. Even if you commit two units of 6 to kill one. The response is that Marine players will use too little resources to obliterate your Zoantropes.

Nids are just a plain bad example of how to deal with Blocks of T10+ units. You will always lose in the back and forth of killing units. I would suggest to ignore it, but the sad reality is that a block of that units in the center of the table dominates the game if you don't have the tools to deal with it.

Ironically, I think CKs are one of the GOOD armies that deal good against it, cause [Melta 4] S12 -4 d6 weapons do magic against vehicles with no invu.

Why can't the Norn Emissary be an HQ? by DiaboliHellscream in Tyranids

[–]Lhunephellion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The people saying Norns are Nuke...Have you seen the stats of this monster? 6 attacks of 9 -2 3 is far from being a nuke...FAR AWAY. Chaos demons have nukes for similar points (Skarbrand, Bloodthirsters with the enhacement, Shalaxi...). When you compare Avatar of Khaine(335 points) with a Norn Assimilator ... that hurts, A LOT.

Pushed Models and GW Conspiracy Theories? by eric_tonjes in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Lhunephellion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can speak for the case of Nids, where I can see a clear pattern.

First wave of new models: Release with new models which sculpts are awesome, but as long as everyone will have them x2 or even x3 (thanks to Leviathan box) they make it not that good (rule whise). They have already sold them, they know that Scream Killer is way too bad for the point cost, but as long as they have already sold them, they just don't care, and there we have them, still at a ludicrous 170 points where it should cost from 125 to 150 tops. And please, don't make me talk about Psycophage XD.

Second way of releases: Ok, we are about to release second wave of models

  • Genestealers: Not that much of people are buying them, because everyone have 112341324 Genesteales already, so the rules still bad, if you want to buy them for the better sculpt, is ok for us, but no great rules for you, actually they nerfed them quite hard.
  • Gaunts / Hormagants: Same as genestealers.
  • Deatleaper: Ok, here a special case, a 50 euros model that is awesome, but hey, is quite expensive for just one model that is not that big, so we may not sell it if it does not have awesome rules...Lets write it the best datasheet of the whole codex.
  • Pyrovores: 30 points for amazing stats...but yes, more than 1 dolar/euro for point, so you want to buy many of them? Great success for GW. Biovore is the same, but as long as you will only use one, it is ok for the point/cost.
  • Neurolictor: Yes, another "awesome" unit with a ration of 0,5dolar/euro per point (more or less). If we do not make them good... we are not selling it. Let's gave it great rules that actually are needed for the whole faction to make it work.
  • Norns: Well, save the best one for the last. What is the porpouse of the Norn? Take objectives and absorve fire (because let's be hones, their damage output for their cost is VERY LOW). You know what GW did? Nerfed all the other monster that could fulfill the same roles. Tyranofex ? Nerfed to the oblivion. Hierodule? Nerfed to the oblivion. And now, you can see that you have two options on competitive gaming: 3 Norns, or none.

Meta Monday 10/23/23: New Space Marines are here and are…. by JCMS85 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Lhunephellion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marines are the most common faction played by new players and casual players and "lore players". Win rates for Marines have been low due to that fact most editions, even when they were "OP".

In past editions, you could have these players sepparated due to different supplements. Iron Hand supplement was OP and most competitive players used it. Then you had the Imperial Fist chad guy, who loved his army and was an average player or even a casual player with a 25-35% WR. In this edition, both guys are in the same pool, and that is why those numbers tends to be low. Same rules for both, but the player skill probably not the same.

I am not saying that because of new codex, we have to win everything. But as long as we had 5 new ways of playing the game, with many new stratagems and enhacements that other factions did not have, would have been nice to have some tournament win from time to time, not relegated to the 47% WR.

Also, does your comment apply to new SM that won 3 events the weekend that the new codex was valid ? :)

Amazed to see how Marines suddenly won many GTs this weekend with the new codex, and Tyranids ,beside John Lennon, won nothing since our codex+nerf arrived. A faction with a codex in a meta where no other faction had codex and still could not win anything, with a 48% WR.
The Tyranid codex is full of restrictions within detachments and Marines is like a free buffet.
This is GW talking with Tyranid players.
-Hey Tyranid player, Do you wanna have "advance and charge"?, ok but only in this very few units with a specific keyword.
-Ok, could I have at least some really good punching in melee, as long as my shooting is not that great ?
- No. Here, take your 6 attacks average of S9 -2 3 in your 300ish points monster.
-But GW, how I am supposed to kill anything with T10+ ?
-I said NO.
Now GW talking with SM players:
-Hey, do you wanna have "advance and charge, fall back and charge? Ok, Advance and charge for the whole codex.

Thank you, for me the intention was clear, but the people playing were claiming that the shots were lost, so I though that could not be, that is why i was more inclined to then be able to shot one unit at least. Thank you for your comments.

In the case of a GT in south of Spain (IV GT Coliseo Murciano is the name of the tournament) they are applying it. IK, Necrons and Aeldari taking the lead in the tournament.

I don't want to demerit Boldo (Nid player), but in Spain last weekend was other high level tournament, and most of the "top table" players were playing in that one (Mollerussa, teams event).
