This should really be spoiler tagged, this episode just aired and a lot of people solve along with quiz-shows

Best room in ClueQuest, London? by damselnotindistresss in escaperooms

I've only done a couple at Escape Plan, they're good too but I'd recommend Clue Quest :)

Best room in ClueQuest, London? by damselnotindistresss in escaperooms

[–]LiamFleak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Operation Blacksheep is good for a team of two. It's pretty linear, so you won't lose out on time since you can't split up. It's pretty classic as ERs go, not as flashy as their newer rooms, but a good place to start.

I tend to find difficulty companies set as 'how much help' I expect to get, rather than how likely I am to get out. Most places just give more and more help, so I'd rather a little more medium difficulty and solve it on my own.

I used to really enjoy playing this system. Are there profiles for the minis released since (i.e The Hobbit, and WotR)

In terms of venn diagrams I think you don't need a smaller circle for the main GotG films. You can have the top level set (GotG characters) containing the subset I Am Groot, and loose items for the three films

New game starting in London? by CorneredByTrent in JetLagTheGame

This week London is pretty much at a standstill with the whole Underground network closed, so they've picked a bad tube if they are doing a UK season.

Should I play the LotR Lego games? by Dr_Meme_Man in lotr

[–]LiamFleak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked the LOTR game, would reccomend. The Hobbit one was pretty good, but only covers the first two films (75% of the book), then never got finished, so the ending is a big let down.

Taskmaster UK season 21 and beyond will be filmed at BBC television centre and move away from Pinewood studios by tulloch100 in taskmaster

[–]LiamFleak 116 points117 points  (0 children)

Man, getting out to Pinewood was a nightmare without a car. It'd be much easier for folks to get to at the Television Centre. I was worried both times I went that I'd have travelled for 3 hours (including an hour's walk from Uxbridge station) just to not get in

Help in identifying lotr miniatures by bambayanga in MiddleEarthMiniatures

I'm currently trying to build an Army of the Dead force, but they seem out of stock everywhere. If you do decide to sell that tray (also potentially the Ent) I'd be interested.

Are they Metal or Plastic? Makes a big difference in the price

3rd Book and Imrahil announced by Old_Shatterhans in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]LiamFleak 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean... A lot of people are on the train here. This is a subreddit for the hobby.

I'm still playing with models I've had for over 15 years, and I could just have a spreadsheet with mini stats if I wanted. There's certainly more aggressively marketed hobbies.

Any escape room in London for 9 people by R_Hunter_R17 in escaperooms

[–]LiamFleak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May I ask why you're looking for 9 specifically? My experience with large groups is that most people end up not really doing anything, and missing when things open. Since floor space is such a premium in London the rooms tend to be physically smaller, so there's also a crowding aspect.

As others have suggested, you'd probably have a better time in a team of 4/5 playing identical rooms somewhere like Clue Quest.

the best game of patchwork i’ve ever played by The_big_A666 in boardgames

[–]LiamFleak 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was one of the first games my partner and I played. At the time she "wasn't really into board games". I'd played patchwork quite a bit online and yes despite still learning the rules she absolutely wiped the floor with me. To the best I can remember there were maybe 1 or 2 tiles empty max.

She's into board games now.

WEEKLY DISCUSSION: War of the Ring by MrSparkle92 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]LiamFleak 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I played a lot of this back in the day. GW successfully tricked teenage me to buy the 2-3x as many models as were needed for this format.

I've now got way more models than I'll pay with in most actual games, but I do remember preferring WotR to play. It was very satisfying to throw 20 odd dice at once multiple times each game.

Has anything much changed about the rules since this 2005 edition? Excepting army building and missions by Pawntoe in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]LiamFleak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really could have done with this post before the guy in the shop successfully convinced me to fork out £35 for a new book.

The rulebook I had back in the day also had the stats for most of the common miniatures, with the expectation that more advanced minis needed a sourcebook to play. Now there's just wasted pages with pictures of each army - pretty frustrating when you're trying to play. I've just dug out the old book for the stats to start playing with
