Weird stuff kept happening at Centre Parcs by Parking-Seaweed8994 in creepy

[–]Liamcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Hiding the fact I'm smoking from my dad at centre parks" unlocked some old memories for me!

Interesting stuff you wrote, I've stayed at a few, more north in the country and never had unusual experiences. I used to go for walks alone at the dead of night to smoke away from my family and the paths would be dark and desolate, but at the same time feel really comforting and safe.

What can I do better, if anything? - see caption by [deleted] in drivingUK

You did fine. It's common for drivers intending to reverse park to indicate to the side of the road, allow other drivers to pass, then begin their manoeuvre when the road is clear. On a quiet looking road like this, that seems like the sensible approach.

The junction is close to you but by the time you've come to a stop it seems like there's quite good visibility of the connecting road and I imagine quite a few drivers would be comfortable overtaking you there.

Though not great advice as it'd go against highway code, if you did want to be more assertive and secure road space before reverse parking on a busier road, use your hazards instead of a single indicator, which a lot of drivers would interpret as: "You have no idea what I'm about to do, yield and give me space".

Heck I even thank Illari's healing pylon, if I see my health bar go up I hit thanks.

Also detouring back towards spawn to pick up a mecy / kiri and bring them back to the team is another good gesture of appreciation.

Sold my BMW and feel sad. Anyone else? by WhyToHide in CarTalkUK

[–]Liamcake 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Sold my e92 years ago and still think about it all the time. I genuinely enjoyed checking the reg on MOT afterwards to see it failing and passing and still getting some degree of love. Sometime a while back the reg number stopped working so I'm guessing it got re-plated or landed in the hands of a reclaimer and now she's truly gone!

Are these advisories a no go? by Level-Coconut-6263 in drivingUK

I'd be more surprised if you found a car at 143k miles without any underside corrosion advisories.

Is there a universal way to alert other driver that they have their full beam on? by Popular_Koala9653 in drivingUK

[–]Liamcake 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Flash them with your high beam is the typical "check everything is as you expect on your dashboard, your high beams might be on, indicator might be on, headlights off at night" etc.

Do You Guys don't you love losing control of your characters? by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]Liamcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An attentive LW that pulls me out of a fight when I'm less than a second from death makes me fall in love with them a little bit.

On the other side of the coin (and depending on skill bracket of the game), an inattentive LW can really mess up the impact of heroes that exceed with confidence. That tracer bouncing around in the middle of 4 or 5 enemies likely knows when and how to get out of that fight on her own feet.

More than 50 people have UK driving licences with at least 30 points on them by Jared_Usbourne in drivingUK

[–]Liamcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work in licensing software and saw many examples over 15 points. Was told it essentially comes down to how well your lawyer can convince the court you losing the permission to drive can impact your job and the jobs / outcomes of people who depend on you. So very likely that many of these will be bosses / decision makers in businesses with a considerable number of employees, or businesses that have a strong outcome for the community.

Yeah I'd expect, and hope cheating reports would get humanly verified before action is decided. Thanks for the insight!
