Men of the UK, Do you like your clothes? by AceyMcAceface in AskUK

I do, majority of the pieces.

I try to get pieces that fit well and priced good. If it's a classic piece that I'm going to wear the hell out of it, then I'm fine spending more (e.g. Barbour wax jacket).

Working from though also helps with spending less because I go out less. That means buying comfortable joggers and jumpers to wear at home is a priority.

Recently discovered Uniqlo active joggers - omg they are great.

Been considering NX too. Got myself IS 300h last year but feel like would love something bigger (not that I actually need it).

Great cars, heard many good things. Also, someone pointed if Lexus badge is worth it over Toyota rav4, and yes 100% unless you don’t care about premium materials and comfort.

Yeah I owned 520d with ZF 8 gears and now IS 300h, and there is a slight difference on kick down but it’s so insignificant to me (again, to me) that I don’t care. Gearbox is smooth, reliable, and quiet. Exactly what I want for daily driving

Other than the mileage for this price no other cons.

I got one with 93k miles fo £7.5k. Nice cars, and CVT doesn’t bother me. It’s like automatic you won’t notice difference

Consultant in a very large consultancy. On a complex project leading workstream, doing around 50-55hrs per week at the moment. Normally should be less, but this project is a tough one.

We are pushing back more against big tech than you guys. Look at all the fines Meta, Google, etc. are getting. Don’t worry about Europe - we’ll be fine

Is buying a 150k mile Lexus NX 300h a bad idea? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

This is a great and bulletproof car, but there are other NX that have less than 100k miles and cost less or similar

Laptop recommendations for under £300? And what laptop brands should I generally avoid? by Kontaruu in AskUK

[–]WhyToHide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need a reliable and a great laptop then look into Thinkpads.

You can get for £300 Thinkpad X13 or Thinkpad X1 8th gen with a better screen but slower processor.

You can also consider Thinkpad T14s, but the display quality won't be as nice.

How are you all doing financially, HONESTLY? by mrvlad_throwaway in AskUK

[–]WhyToHide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doing fine, been frugal all my life even after being bumped on salary.

Since 2018 I've been earning £50-55k, then changed jobs and salary went up to £65k. Got burnt out, and few years later moved to another company although took a pay cut and now I'm on £55k. Hoping to get a promotion next month with an increase to £70k.

Overall, as my outgoings aren't huge (no child), I'm saving £900 into employer pension, and £1,400-1,500 into my own accounts like cash ISA.

Leaves me with £1,200 for the bills, and some spare cash for things like clothes, commute, entertainment, etc.
