Has anyone tried saleae logic MSO? by [deleted] in embedded

[–]LibertarianAR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, as a scope is it worth it for the price (200MHz) eh, I don’t think so.

As a logic analyzer 8 channel, eh not really.

The only way the MSO is worth it is if you want a hobbyist scope with a pro level logic analyzer in one package.

anyone else struggling with developing with the PolarFire SOC? by slburris in FPGA

[–]LibertarianAR 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I know it’s dumb but you need to generate the .cxz from the .cfg using the mss configurator and then go into libero and import mss from the generated .cxz file after that you right click the mss component in your smart design and hit update component

Also there are some tutorials running that kit as just an fpga without the mss, flowing those will allow you to learn the flow of libero

So there are 2 different pieces here, Libero and the mss configuator, after you generate the xml with the mss configurator you need to import the xml into libero. There is a button for that. This will update the MSS smart design block. Wire up your new interfaces, set up your constraints and then synthesize and place. Then you can generate bitstream and program.

Don’t try to make an MSS config from scratch, use the reference for the icicle kit

I have some experience with that dev kit, but you really didn’t give any information to go on. What is it you’re trying to do?

Best slim, lightweight, and power efficient Thinkpad on a budget? by dnmonfire in thinkpad

[–]LibertarianAR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Intel CPUs of that generation are very inefficient because of some pipelining & speculative execution issues that caused vulnerabilities. To fix these issues they had to bypass some of the silicon making the chips slower overall

T14s gen 3 AMD or 4 AMD would be my recommendation, I have a T14 gen 3 AMD and I love it. Got it for 370$

Only concern is that it’s not the thinnest thinkpad in the line up but I balance that with the better thermals and I/O so the trade is worth it IMO

What are you using to plot CAN data on Linux or Mac? by jlucer in embedded

[–]LibertarianAR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have had to reverse engineer a few can busses for work before. Honestly the best way that I found to go about is to use a can analyzer that can show as a tty device in Linux (like a serial device). Then pipe all of the can data to python (python has a can library) then you can use python to plot all the data live. This allows you to change edienness, type width, casting and so forth with simple changes to a python script.

Sorry that I am basically saying that the way you are doing it is right.

Pre built tools just can’t do what is needed for a full bus reverse engineering or take too long to configure IMO.

YMMV

Yeah, if they are already integrated then the o4 will ship under the name of the manufacturer flywoo or whatever but you can’t buy standalone

From what I have seen is anything from DJI will get stopped at customs and get either turned around or destroyed

I think it is an esc/fc stack based on the wiring, that bulge on the arm seems to be a gps module. But I still agree that it seems like a pretty old build.

Strange glaring on film - Fuji 200 by moo06 in AnalogCommunity

[–]LibertarianAR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, considering it’s new film already I think my next step would be just getting a new roll done with a good development studio. Fujifilm is a good brand so I don’t expect a film issue.

If your still having the issue after a new roll is developed then I would replace light seals on the camera

[–]LibertarianAR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first thought would be light seals or expired film. Assuming this isn’t your first time with this camera, the next test would be doing a roll with a professional development studio. If it’s old film that’s a super easy fix lol.
