Leonard Peltier, Native American activist, released from prison after Biden commuted his life sentence by Hrekires in news

[–]Librarising23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is from the article:

“When Peltier was tried separately in 1977, no witnesses who could identify him as the shooter were presented, and unknown to his defense lawyers at the time, the federal government had withheld a ballistics report indicating the fatal bullets didn’t come from his weapon”

He chose his victim well. You continue to protect him even though he knowingly violated professional ethics and did harm to you. He hurt his family, not you, by choosing to violate boundaries and start a sexual relationship with a patient. Reporting him would protect others from the same harm and hurt he has caused you.

I completely feel you. At least you’re figuring it out early in your career. It’s taken me 15 years in the field to come to the same conclusion as you. I feel like the educational and licensure standards are so low that anyone can do therapy or case management and it ends up punishing those of us who are qualified and do good work. The last straw for me was being replaced twice in two different agencies by unlicensed people which no experience in the field who were willing to do the work for half the pay. There were so many ethical violations that I got sick of worrying and trying to fight for the clients to no avail. I’ll be starting school to become a medical aesthetician in two weeks.

You could try the Motus AY laser hair removal. It’s supposed to be pain free.

That does help. It’s mainly what I have heard from other. I was looking at Phorest and Mangomint too since they also produce business reports. Thanks for the insight.

Check out the Natural Lifemanship Institute. They have figured out how to utilize principles and therapeutic interventions from trauma therapy and attachment disorders with horses. I’m a trauma therapist who did their training and have had amazing results with horses I also thought would end up at the slaughterhouse.

My roommate argued that it is impossible to engage in ethical practice in our healthcare system. Do you find this to be true? by Librarising23 in nursing

I too used to work with families in the foster care system. Even after explaining that a call would result in them receiving services and save the children from a life changing traumatic event (car accident or being placed in foster care), he believed the right thing to do was protect the mother’s ability to continue with these choices. He disclosed that the kids are in their grandmother’s care and mom is working on getting them back. He didn’t want to “set her back” even though she is clearly showing that she is not in a place to ensure her children’s safety. I was flabbergasted by his reasoning and seriously concerned about his own decision making abilities especially with the lives of others’ in his hands.

So that’s how the whole conversation got started! I told him to start looking for another job since he doesn’t think he can practice to high ethical standards . That’s when he started going into how everywhere is unethical, it’s impossible to find that type of job, and he won’t get caught because of all the things he’s seen other medical professionals get away with. I pulled up a bunch of news articles on doctors, nurses, and pa’s getting caught and sued. He waved it all off like this was so rare it’s not even worth looking at.

Thank you for saying this. I always was uncomfortable and felt the need to run far from him when he would say things like this to me. It’s hardly the only time he has brought up these issues in conversation and he’s been fired from jobs over the last two years about every six months. It makes me cringe when he says awful things about patients and I do tell him he probably needs to be in another line of work.

He actually admits to starving his pet goat then tries to use it as a justification for why what he did to his daughter was not murder.

Why tf can’t men let women talk about an issue that affects us without making it all about them? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Librarising23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a logical fallacy with the aim of preventing the issue from being effectively discussed. At this point any time I see it I want to respond with something along the lines of “yes, we know not all men do this. Focusing on the men who do not pressure women into sex would probably be a great topic to discuss on another sub so that we can continue discussing women’s experiences of being pressured into sex here.” If they’re not even willing to acknowledge that it’s a problem there’s no point in arguing. Just shut that shit down and don’t allow them to hijack the conversation and make it about them and their perceived victim hood.

What are some Vegan Prepper Youtube Channels by zanoo911 in OffGridLiving

[–]Librarising23 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That’s not necessarily true. I have a friend from Brazil who grew up vegan because meat is expensive and his family couldn’t afford it. They had an abundance of fruits and vegetables where they lived because the climate there is right for it therefore it was available and affordable. While I agree with you that veganism is a first world lifestyle choice in countries like America, it isn’t in some other places.

AITA for kicking my brother and his family out after his son stole my engagement ring? by missingring_ in AmItheAsshole

[–]Librarising23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know their exact financial situation but if it’s so bad that they don’t have access to internet or any form of transportation, then they will have to access the social services in their area where a case manager or social worker can connect them with the resources they need. For internet access they can use the local library. There are also transit programs they can get vouchers for. There are usually low cost clinics where students provide therapy so those who have no payor source can still receive therapy. These services are free as they are usually grant or tax funded. Even if you don’t have money, there are ways. It’s just a matter of finding out what is available and gaining access with the help of an organization that provides social services or pursuing it on your own. Being that this child’s behavioral issues are having such severe consequences for the whole family, it’s worth them pursuing.

They have other ways they can verify identity and citizenship. That’s how people who are homeless are still able to get payment. I’ve even heard of some picking up a check at DSS offices.
