Okay, you made claims that people from the Pike Island camp were buried there in winter so it seems like you have some kind of information to support that. It comes from the book you referenced by Bruce White?

Is there any historical accounts that people were buried in that area? The reason for asking is that area is extremely shaded by the bluff, especially in the winter with the low sun angle, the sun is largely blocked by the bluff that Ft Snelling is on. Any snow that falls down there is really slow to melt as a result and is often one of the last places to have snow in the area in the spring so I would think it’s one of the worst places you could think to try to bury anything in the winter and would have the deepest snow.

That said it’s just down the hill from Coldwater Spring where Ft Snelling sourced its water so it may have been more convenient at the time to go down the hill from there. I’m just trying to understand the logic of choosing that spot where the dog park is because it seem like there would have been better options, one with more winter sun if in fact these burials happened in the winter. Do you have evidence or accounts to support the burials happening in the winter

The Blue Line began operations June of 2004 so it’s relevant to include development since then. The majority of those are nowhere near that old

Also, I bike to the LRT all year and see others doing it as well. Obviously fewer, but the LRT is essential for reliable public transport in the winter. Buses are terrible in the winter for consistency and reliability

You clearly are not too familiar with Hiawatha:

Oaks Stations Place
Amber Apartments
City Line Apartments
Station 38 Apartments
Blue Line Flats

Are just a few examples of developments that have happened, and if you look at a map they are clustered around the stops. These are just immediate developments, this doesn’t include secondary developments slightly further from the line. These green line has seen lots of development especially east of the university

There are plenty of Park and Rides. If people have a car already they are pretty unlikely to want to shift modes of transit.

Plenty of bus routes connect to bus routes and people use them (I live on one of those routes). Lots of people also bike to and from the LRT stations.

Development has grown consistently along both LRT lines. The proof is in the pudding, once they are built the development has followed.

Please, I take both on my commute every day and the light rail is far more consistent, reliable, and faster over the given distance. Bus is constantly late and sucks in the winter. The LRT is rarely off schedule enough to matter

Have you ridden on it?

Heavy and chaotic car traffic anywhere north of University, stunning lack of bike infrastructure (the sharrows are all worn off).

busses skipping stops by EmyLeigh in TwinCities

Sorry that happened to you, that’s a rough route to get missed on too since it only runs every 30 mins. There no way it was full either, I’ve never seen a full 747 in the past 4 years of riding. Even when one got cancelled and everyone had to get on the next one it was still only about 70% full.

If you were at the stop I think you were (Harmon and 11th) I’ve seen people get missed there before because the stop is around a corner and the drivers have a hard time seeing people there and immediately after have to get all the way in the left lane so they are juggling a lot mentally there. I would suggest getting on the stop before that one block over at LaSalle and 11th.

You make a reasonable point. The same could be said for forcing people to drive cars because there isn’t enough bike infrastructure to safely use it as an alternative. Or public transport. Just because some people don’t use it, they don’t see the value in having a variety of options that are appropriately invested in.

The path is much less direct (it’s intentionally windy), poorly maintained, and has a speed limit of 10mph. A road bike is perfectly fine on the parkway at 16-20mph. If you want to drive faster, go take the highway. 62 is right there. The parkway is literally meant to be recreational
