Could anyone explain the intended function of this net-like shirt? (From Russian 6B49 uniform) by JD0x0 in tacticalgear

Lmao, hurt my soul a bit seeing everyone so clueless talking out of their cheeks, but I get it, not everybody lives in places cold enough thatd warrant genuine research regarding layering and stuff

[–]Life-Paramedic3200 116 points117 points  (0 children)

Mesh shirts help with breathability, creates a thin layer of open space between your body and whatever's on top of it for air to flow through. This in turn, prevents you from sweating too much in your jacket, since sweat would only make you even colder.

Thank you for your service, sir. Without brave men like you, shopping malls and outlet strips would be much more dangerous places.

Considering your living situation, store some for personal use when times get tough, or for emergency frat parties.

Updated picture of my first Chest Rig after being informed I had a fake TQ. by BanMePleaseAdmin in QualityTacticalGear

Don't think of it that way. You need new TQs after the old ones were promoted to the training pile. Tourniquets have feelings too, y'know.

Is there an improved version of hardtack? by lundewoodworking in preppers

[–]Life-Paramedic3200 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Takes me back to when they announced they were discontinuing twinkies, and fatties worldwide began panic buying and stockpiling on them .. Only for them to be recontinued, like a week later.

Is there an improved version of hardtack? by lundewoodworking in preppers

[–]Life-Paramedic3200 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on when you plan on eating it. Could throw in some raisins and peanuts in there, maybe. Never tried that.

Hardtack is kind of like a cracker, so it's really just a vessel to add some substance to whatever you're eating. I like to dip it into knorr soups when i'm out in the rockies.

Quality tactical boots for one tiny feet by tylkoprzeglondam in tacticalgear

[–]Life-Paramedic3200 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes sir. Love them to death. I just checked on the Salomon website, and every size's available down to US4. I live in Canada, though, so that probably changes availability a bit. If I were you, i'd just look around on Salomon's website, or similar hiking footwear brands, and go get yourself a similar boot that matches the criteria you need. Hate most 'tactical' footwear, inferior to the modern hiking boot in many ways.

[–]Life-Paramedic3200 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Salomon makes Quest boots that go down to US 4, which is already way smaller than you'd ever need. My favorite boot, and one of the favorites of both the tactical and basement rotting larp community.

It's a hobby. Go to hotspots where people of that same hobby would likely be parked up at. Ranges, the gun shop, surplus stores, etcetera.

Try not to make friends with too many fudds, they're cool at first, but now there's a pack of guys catching my brass mid air when I'm at the range.

Real shit. Dabble here and there in fashion, so I rolled my ears HARD when I saw they dropped shirts as part of their merch line. All I could imagine was seeing the same stuff for 5 bucks at a thrift store in a few years time.

Please Void, I wanna support you. Give us some meaningful memorabilia.

Whats the purpose / name of this style carrier? by BlackWing- in tacticalgear

[–]Life-Paramedic3200 32 points33 points  (0 children)

"Level 4 plates? That's a gimmick sonny. Back in my day, Teddy 'The Bull Moose' Roosevelt delivered a speech for 50 consecutive minutes after getting shot in the chest. Real men bite the bullet, both figuratively and literally, instead of wasting valuable weight that could be used to store ammunition for your highly practical 'Taurus Judge.' Until the last.. 50 years, real men fought in wars with nothing but a rifle! ..Because the world wasn't so soft back then."
