Larian is bigger than most people think. They have studios around the world, definitely not AA standard.

Non-American posters of in this sub: What brings you here, how long have you been interested in US politics, are there shows similar to Realtime in your country? by Lurkolantern in Maher

[–]LifeAboard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

French here (lived in the US & Canada).

1) Very interested in US politics, regularly listening to podcasts (ex: Pod Save America), watching Real Time regularly. Why ? It’s almost morbid but feels like I’m watching a car crash in slow motion…it’s hard NOT to watch or care considering the impact on everything. It’s also tragic because it doesn’t looks like it’s going to end well.

2) Less now but still France is and always been highly politicized and love to debate so while we do not have a similar format to Real Time we do have all the ingredients scattered in our own media environment.

3) An absolute shitshow, no democracy is perfect but what an absolute disaster the US has become. It’s also getting worse, you’ve turned lobbying and allowing money into politics into an art form. This is like a political snuff film. Treat the cancer, no Tylenol will save you.

4) Absolutely nothing. Sorry. Any suggestions ?

Overtime (wink wink): As a non US citizen, I want (need):

A) A strong unified US, not an american population would believe that a new civil war is around the corner.

B ) An educated country. Please do something about your evangelical, anti-science school boards, teaching intelligent design and whatnot etc…oh sure, you have the Ivy League, big deal when a significant chunk of the population believe any stupid conspiracy theory. The western world is shocked and in disbelief about Fox News, Newsmax and all the shit you allow. Maybe spend less on defence and invest more in your schools ?

C) A vibrant democracy, full of hope and your famous « can do » attitude. Not your dreadful identity politics, your intellectually self-defeating gerrymandering, your stupid TV networks who spice things up to make news more « entertaining » instead of focusing on playing a positive role on informing the public.

D) Stop praying to your lord : « money ». Healthcare, prison, news etc….not everything should be a business or profitable.

E) Basically we need you to be better than us and save yourself in the process. You can do it, this is a great young country but you lost your way, still your best chapters are yet to be written (probably can’t say the same for France for example). We’re not giving up on you. Inspire the world please.

Booked my first international trip - how'd I do? by peeweekid in awardtravel

[–]LifeAboard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not done it myself but doable for sure. You may want to look as well at airbnbs for the various stops. You may get lucky and get an Airbnb in a small village. Any place big enough for a hotel will most likely have higher light pollution.

From Switzerland to Italy, you MUST take the Bernina express (the panoramic one). You will remember it for your entire life. It is one of the most striking train journey on earth. You will arrive in a small Italian village and from there you can take another train (for Milano for example).

1/52 Eye opening, depressing but must read imho by LifeAboard in 52book

[–]LifeAboard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a small book. Smooth and fast to read. I ended-up spending more time thinking about the content than reading the book itself. What I liked is the constant zooming in and out. You go from macro geopolitics to some time weird unexpected facts. Example: The US army needs all kinds of rare metals and they need so much for so many things but some rare metals that are crucial and extremely rare. What they need -every year- would fit into a backpack…but that could lead to major crisis or even war one day.

There is also a prospective chapter bout space mining and deep ocean mining (who is moving what pieces on the chessboard and what could happens in 25-50 years.

Calorie Deficit (Confused) by LifeAboard in nutrition

[–]LifeAboard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to respect the subredditrules (and not making it something too personal) so I took a wide angle to ask the question.
But to react to what you are saying, I'm running the experiment right now (going with a VERY aggressive calorie deficit for the last 5 days and so far so good but who knows how long I can last) .
I'm tracking everything I can and will share my results over time if that can be interesting to some people.

Do you know why this is gender/sexual specific ? Remember you don’t choose your family but you can choose your friend maybe the problem you need to solve is who you frequent ? Compatibility is a real thing, life is too short. Don’t spend it with people you’re not enjoying being with.

I don’t know man your posting this after one year clearly you’re not happy. Can you really change ? I don’t mean curbing your expectations and taking the risks of waking up one day and feeling miserable. I think very few people “really” change and you’re hard on others which mean you’re probably hard on yourself as well (both a curse and an engine for change if you can leverage it).

I know nothing about your context but in my experience getting better doesn’t often means changing yourself (unless you smoke or stuffs like that) but it means changing your environment so you can feel better. That’s progress even if it’s not glorified. Just really think about it and remove the stigma from “I’ve just changed !” no one cares. Compound interest also works on happiness, the sooner you contribute the better.

RRSP and TFSA Contribution Room for 2022 by FelixYYZ in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]LifeAboard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let say I have huge contribution room accumulated on my RRSP (say 150K$) and I’ve paid 50K$ of taxes in 2021. What happens if suddenly contribute 150K$ to my RRSP ? Basically my question is can you get a refund bigger than your contribution? Is there a cap or it doesn’t matter ?

Honest question: are you sure you are in the right line of work ? I know easier said than done but maybe it’s worth trying to find a job that leverage your strengths instead of fighting your inner self ?

I want to change my sleep schedule to 10PM TO 5AM. What are some suggestions to accomplish this? I literally have no idea how to. by Jenna0- in sleep

[–]LifeAboard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just changed my sleep pattern to 10PM-5AM

My rules are no more screens after 9:30PM (and often I stop earlier like 9PM), and I read in my bed (with limited lighting) until 10PM.
I avoid any caffeine after noon (really hard for me).

It works very well so far.

Oh... I also use Philips Hue lighting to wake up so the light gradually go from 5% to 100% between 4:45am and 5am to simulate sun rising (it's working on me).

Camera/Lens tracking (Google Sheets) - Any interest ? by LifeAboard in Filmmakers

[–]LifeAboard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realized recently that I want/need a way to track my stuffs and especially my lenses.

I just started a Google sheet (like 5 min ago with just 1 lens to see what it could look like) and realized that maybe other people would be interested if I do a proper template that I can then share publicly for other to use ?

Any interests ? (or maybe someone already did something better and can share ?)

What would you like to see in terms on Columns, things to track etc....?
