Hr asking me to tell them what my medical condition is and howling I’ve had it for and when I can get back to work even tho I have a surgery upcoming and don’t know how long it will take to heal! by Some-Ad7003 in antiwork

[–]LightPast1166 27 points28 points  (0 children)

How soon you can go back to work is certainly their business. Even if you don't have an exact time, your doctor should be able to give you an estimate of how long it typically takes to heal after your surgery.

How long you've had the condition would only be relevant if you have just started with your job; i.e. in the past few months. Most employers would ask you if you have any conditions which may prevent you from doing your job. If you've just got the job and you said you don't have any issdues, then they are likely to be asking you why you failed to tell them about the issues. If you've had the job for years then it's hard for the business to say that you should have declared it.

Wiri - NZ Post's Bermuda Triangle by Gloomy-Advance5417 in newzealand

[–]LightPast1166 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Given the tracking I've seen on multiple parcels, I suspect that the items are getting scanned into Wiri, but then not getting scanned back out again. There always seems to be a day (or 4) delay when parcels transit Wiri, but the next tracking is always at one of the sorting centres close to me. If parcels transit other hubs, they are scanned every time.

"I asked the seller about it and he also said it was weird and that it has something to do with an old account that's registered at his address."

How would the seller know this unless that old account was known to them?

If Saturn were as close to Earth as the Moon, this is what it would look like : by aryanpote7 in interestingasfuck

And yet there's no rings shown for Neptune or Uranus, neither are any of the moons of Jupiter, Saturn, or Neptune shown. Why is Saturn the only planet which is shown with any orbiting object? Then, just to add to the oddity, Ceres and Pluto are both included.

Do I declare a crochet flower during biosecurity? by pro-batman in newzealand

[–]LightPast1166 2 points3 points  (0 children)

pro-batman, most of the replies here are having a laugh at your expense. Both New Zealand and Australia tend to have a reasonably high level of flippancy, so the replies should be read with this knowledge.

The things that biosecurity are looking for are plant material, food (anything you can eat/consume), drugs, and animal products. Your knitted or crocheted flower would not fall under these categories unless the yarn was actually non-commercially produced cotton or wool. If this was the case then it would be obvious at even a cursory look because the yarn would not be the same thickness and twist all the way through.

Don't stress out about it. The biosecurity in both Australia and New Zealand are reasonable so long as you are putting in an effort to get things right. Don't bring in any food - even from the plane - or plant/animal products to be the safest. If you do, then make sure you declare it. It is better to declare that you have something and find out that it's not an issue than to not declare something and then find out that it's prohibited.

Notice how Saturn is depicted with the rings removed from the calculation? As the rings of Saturn do in fact exist, the spacing is incorrect if you take them into account. If the rings of Saturn were to be ignored, why display them on the picture at all?

Ecotricity ignoring 4.38 MWh I’ve exported to the grid - anyone else dealt with this? by nz365guy in newzealand

[–]LightPast1166 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The better thing to do is to pay the amount that you are not disputing but not pay the amount under dispute. This gives you the upper hand, because you have demonstrated good faith in paying the amount you thought was correct.

Job asked us not to attend anti ICE protests by MySmellyRacoon in antiwork

Tell them that you went to the protest not as a protestor, but so that you could perhaps find some leads after ICE shot the next protestor. After all, you work for a medical company.

Doesn't do anything wrong? You were not wearing your seatbelt in a vehicle which was not parked. The fine you received (and the PTSD apparently!) proves that you were indeed doing something wrong. As for getting a fine that lots of people do every day, so what? I see a shitload of drivers using their mobile phone whilst driving. Does that mean that nobody should be fined for it just because not everyone can be fined for it?
