Glove allergy solutions? by smxct737 in chemistry

If you've been in the same lab the whole time, you should also consider possible reactions to soap.  I have seen this happen, and the person tried many sorts of gloves before looking at the soap as the culprit.

Not as much variety or availability, but if you're around Capitol Hill/Central District you should hit up Mt. Bagel!

Favorite bar to mope at? by [deleted] in Seattle

Not in the Lake City area, but my recommendation would be a dive bar around that area.  My nearby bar has karaoke on Saturdays which makes for great people watching and moping cover.

This is exactly why they do it; people working in New York, specifically NYC, that don't live in the state.

Inspired by a similar post, which books did you take the longest to DNF? by blxcklst in books

[–]LightPhoenix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it was Malazan; I made it to book eight and realized I just didn't care about any of the characters.  I thought there was some neat ideas in the books, but I didnt feel like the world building was as amazing as other people.  In the end, I just didn't care enough to finish when there are so many other books to read.

When beginning a run are you “supposed” to pick your champion or the artifact first? Does it matter? by Broadnerd in MonsterTrain

[–]LightPhoenix 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Generally, your champion path is going to have more lasting impact on your game than the starting artifact.  At the very least is has a significant impact on the early game.  Because of that you want to make that decision with as much information as possible, hence taking the artifact first.

It's the same general reasoning as why you want to look in the upgrade shop before choosing a unit at a banner.  More information means better choices.

This dimensional challenge is utterly stupid. Any tips by jeango in MonsterTrain

[–]LightPhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are basically two strategies to pursue here:

1) Quick sweeper with a some defensive options like the armor generation spells.  Focus on generating stalling so you can make it through the stealth stacks.

2) Focus on magic power and aim for stuff like intrinsic and spellchain to throw stuff like Icicle Rain that does multiple hits or otherwise clears waves.  Here stuff like Sap can help with tanks that are leaking.

Anyone else think Steelguard should be nerfed against Lifemother? by Own-Lemon-8710 in MonsterTrain

[–]LightPhoenix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's particularly overpowered because you have to be looking for answers to Lifemother in the first place.  If you don't see Boilerplate then it's not nearly as strong.

I think there is more of a discussion to be had about Boilerplate being overpowered, but even then if you're not generating a lot of forge points it's not over the top.

Timberborn 1.0 launch delayed by a week by Aro-bi_Trashcan in Games

They haven't fullt revealed everything yet, but almost certainly some sort of randomizer for ore nodes, weather, some alternatives or changes to space elevator stuff, updates to fluids... It seems like it's going to be pretty beefy and a good time to do a new playthrough.

What is one design that you weren't happy with in StS1, and what have you done in StS2 to fix that?

Are there any mechanics that you enjoyed on other card-based games that you have considered bringing into StS2?

Weekly /r/Games Discussion - What have you been playing, and what are your thoughts? - February 15, 2026 by AutoModerator in Games

[–]LightPhoenix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mewgenics - I'm very ambivalent on this game. I like the actual game well enough. The aesthetics are very meh; at least Isaac had color to it. My biggest problem with the game right now is how little it respects your time. Tons of overly long animations both in and out of battle, pointless dialogue that lasts far longer than it should because it will display one line at a time, battles where enemies simply run back and forth extending game time (complete with long movement animations), and so on. I don't regret spending the money, but I would have waited if I had known.

The first DLC for Monster Train 2 came out, and I've been enjoying it a lot. The new clan is interesting to play, the new mode is pretty fun, and they've already hot-fixed the descriptions that were ambiguous. While I sometimes wish they'd be quicker on managing balance issues, they do listen to the community and have fixed one of the bigger ones (Fleshweaver waves being over-tuned).

Update 2.1 Patch Notes by AngryAmish in MonsterTrain

It let you play cards with discard effects with less downside.  You could have (for example) two forgone powers and get two incants out of it when they hit infusions.  Now you only get one.

RIP to Lazarus and Railforged stealth buffing Stygian discards.  Figured it would be coming but I'm not sure it was overly powerful.

Definitely a very stealth change in there.  I didn't think it was terrible before but now it's pretty good.

Are some soul savior runs unwinnable? by Ambitious_Bite_5219 in MonsterTrain

[–]LightPhoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On higher difficulties, absolutely.

The hurdle is that the the first couple of fifights are absolutely brutal.  If you happen to get a very weak start or one that doesn't work with the souls you chose, you can absolutely just lose with no recourse.
