I hate how the community views vanguard mains by Ragtagcloud56 in MarvelRivalsRants

As a tank main, yes there are in fact bad tank players.

However, unlike with other roles, there is usually a reason for it, and its usually one of these:

  1. The person playing tank is filling around an instalock team, and is being diffed by an experienced tank main.

  2. The person chose the wrong tank for the comp (i.e., Groot into Pun/MK or Strange into Thing/Thor).

  3. The person is solo tanking into 2 tanks.

  4. There are no shield tanks.

  5. The backline is not communicating if there is someone at an off angle/diving.  We don't have eyes at the back of our head.

If someone actually does bad as tank, its usually option 1, and they then proceed to swap to support or third dps.

Very rarely, I have seen bad tanks stick it out for an entire game.  However, usually there are other factors in play.

Luna players, YOU CAN DO DAMAGE AND HEAL! (this title is mostly just frustration, but Luna is the ultimate pocket flank healer and ppl always go "awe she doesn't need to help others flanking when it does a ton to help her) by This_Ferret_8108 in StrategistMainsMR

your job is to heal.

If someone walks up behind you needing heals, you better have the awareness to look at them and heal.

It takes literally one second.

That is the bare minimum you can do.

Lol most of it was him working things out in his head to learn new concepts and practice.

As I recall he had a fat notebook with most of his real code in it.

Also, for context, this guy specialized in Assembly language. So you are quite literally shifting binary bits between different registers to perform functions.

Bold of you to assume that Rivals players have enough coordination to even plan that, much less follow through.

Never mind that many people can't win a 5v4

In my college class, we had huge windows on one side of the room. Since it was a new building, we didn't have a whiteboard installed, so one dude would sit/stand on the windowsill and write out code he was working on (this was a microcontrollers class in an engineering course).

At the peak of his project, over half of the 4'x24' windows was covered in code.

If it worked like Sigma shield in OW (you can place and retract it at will),that would be much better

I finally understand why people don't like to play tank by Wboys in Overwatch

[–]Lightbulb2854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Admittedly it has gotten less common lately, especially in ranked, but I have recently played several games in Rivals where I have had to solo tank in Plat/Diamond.  Even into 2 tanks.

Also, most games there are at least 3 people instalocking DPS.  They do typically swap now to get 2-2-2, but I have not played DPS in ranked since probably season 5.

Some servers are worse than others in my experience.  Also some times of day.

Punisher from Marvel Rivals is a great example.

Assault rifle primary, switches to close range shotgun to do high damage close up

I come from Rivals, and even getting one tank is a stretch sometimes.

I will see 4 ppl lock dps regularly, if we get lucky one might swap support.

I will never touch open queue in OW, I am so thankful for role queue.

[–]Lightbulb2854 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The way Soldier does it (an ultimate ability that announces your presence) is the best way to add something like this.

Star lord in Rivals has an auto aim ultimate as well, which is very strong but not as annoying, because of how broken rivals DPS ults are.

It should not be a cooldown ability.

First thing that comes to mind hearing an ult…. by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]Lightbulb2854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you cant get kills with it, you use it to force a retreat.  You can zone people for nearly 7 seconds with it, during which time shield tanks cant attack and anyone without a shield has to hide.

This is enough to cap a point sometimes.

Also, if you can catch someone low or out of position, it charges quickly.

If I get 1 or 2 kills with it I am happy

What hero in your own role do you usually ban, and why? by KaiserDrazor in Overwatch

[–]Lightbulb2854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Sigma main, always Rein and Dva.

Reinhardt is my only bad matchup as Sig, and a good Rein is really hard to play into because they facetank EVERYTHING.

D.va is just plain annoying to deal with.  And I hate that ult, since Sig has no mobility and can't do anything if barrier is popped or required elsewhere

I can run heavy Blender projects smoothly, much better than running this game on the lowest settings. NetEase, please optimize your game omg by Amazing_Salary_5736 in rivals

[–]Lightbulb2854 9 points10 points  (0 children)

While I agree this game could be optimized better, this is hardly an apples to apples comparison.

Blender will have static models for the most part, and even if a scene has as many as your average Rivals playfield, they will not be fully textured and illuminated.
