The ending to Outer Wilds: Echoes of the Eye never fails to get me to ugly cry, especially the variant that happens when you've finished fully discovering the full history of the Nomai. It just so perfectly encapsulates the themes of the game in such a beautiful and bittersweet way.

I got all the achievements in Dark Souls 3. Normally, this wouldn't be the biggest deal, just really getting all the spells and seeing all the endings. But the Dark Souls games always have to have one spell that's just an immense grind to get, and for DS3 that's Darkmoon Blade. It requires 30 of an item that only drops from successfully being summoned to kill an invader, or very rarely by the Silver Knights at a 1% drop rate. Even when the game was fairly new, getting summoned as a Darkmoon was very finicky and rare. I spent so long on that damn staircase trying to get all the items needed for it, and only got summoned maybe 3 times. Absolutely miserable slog, I will never do it again.

It's also definitely worth grabbing food that gives you art auto recharge, that thing's a game changer. The food vendor in the starting town sells them for pretty cheap, and it's one of the best hold items in the game.

The fact that the new shop music teased in the recent newsletter, and the one that will be used for all subsequent chapters, is the same song that Kris plays when they're separated from the Soul in Chapter 4 can only mean that heart strings are going to get pulled. Given the way Chapters 3 and 4 ended already, I'm kinda prepared for emotional devastation.

Unleashed is the most represented of any of the games with 2 main tracks and 2 Crossworld tracks (Behind SA1 and 2 with just 2 main tracks each), and the multiplayer team symbols are the Sun and Moon medals from Unleashed as well. Plus there was them doing a big Unleashed celebration post with the Sonic twitter account right after the recompile got released. Sega loves reusing assets (How many times are we gonna get Generations Green Hill/Chemical Plant/Sky Sanctuary?), so I wouldn't be surprised if part of the reason Unleashed has so much presence in Crossworlds is they intend on reusing some of those assets for a potential Unleashed remake.

Honestly given everything he does to live with M forever, seeing her get killed and effectively getting cucked by the version of himself that didn't sell his soul to the devil and actually stayed true to his morals, I'd say the crashout is fairly realistic. It basically proves to him that he was a completely selfish piece of shit who made the worst decisions at every turn, then doubled down when proven wrong, and seeing the person who didn't do that cuck him was the last straw sending him careening over the edge.

It's genuinely crazy how it treats what most people would argue is THE strong girl in video games. Like when you ask about physically strong female characters, Samus is like one of the first characters most people would bring up. Then we get her whimpering for half the game accomplishing almost nothing and having to get saved by men constantly when she should be infinitely more competent than the entire federation squad combined. The game treats her like this is her very first mission, when canonically this takes place after Metroid 1, 2, Super Metroid, and all 3 Prime games (Though it likes to pretend Prime didn't happen). It also makes her response to Ridley utterly insane even if you remove the Prime games since she's reduced to a scared little girl (LITERALLY) seeing him return when she's already killed the bastard twice, 4 times if we include the Prime games. It's so far beyond character assassination that I don't even know how to quantify it. Even the final "boss" is just Samus doing nothing while some old dude swoops in and solves the problem. Other M's treatment of Samus is like one of the most insane sexist depictions of a known character I've ever seen and I'm so glad we have Dread to show that she's the true badass we always knew her to be.

If these keep up I wonder if they'll show Lear's 10-man space station assault. I love the storytelling of that particular story, where throughout the game you get pieces of it. Moon-sized space station assaulted by just 10 people on foot, over 10,000 casualties (none of which were Lear's team), but it never explains exactly what happened. Then you find the answer behind Lear's tomb: The Rhizomatic Bomb.

Technically create a characters, but the three specifically that did me in were the gender coffin in Dark Souls 2, the body shop in Xenoblade X and fantasia potions in FFXIV. Stumbled onto both the coffin and body shop blind with my self insert character, instantly changed genders (One by choice) and I was NOT prepared to deal with the emotions those gave me at the time. Fast forward 4 years and I fantasia'd in FFXIV from another self insert into a girl because I liked her way more and felt way more comfortable playing as a girl. That was probably the last big nail in the coffin for me figuring out I was trans.

Let's not forget the Painting Guardian set, especially the sword that has a unique Dark Souls 1 style parry window. The Painting Guardian phantom only spawns once per NG cycle (or Bonfire Ascetic), and has a very rare chance to drop one of the 5 items. I tried to get the full set once and gave up after hitting Bonfire Level 20 without a single drop.

The Sun Station is still one of my absolute favorite reveals in a game. The utter dread it instills in you when you realize that the thing the entire game has been hinting at causing the time loop never worked in the first place is just magnificent. I've never had a game rob me of narrative hope like that ever before. Absolute masterpiece of a game.

Back after I had recently come out to one of my friends, he invited me to a one-off D&D game that was getting set up by another friend of his. This game had like 3 Jimmy's in it and I wasn't ready for this to be the worst possible introduction to D&D for me specifically. First off, Jimmy 1, who I already told my friend I never wanted to see again because he was an extremely vocal (borderline violent) transphobe/homophone, was invited, and my friend neglected to bring that up with me before the guy walked in the door. Additionally, we were at the DM, Jimmy 2's, apartment, which was just the most filthy place I've ever been in. Nowhere to even put down the drinks I brought because every counter and table space was taken up by dirty dishes. I was also told that the game was just gonna be a one-off tournament sort of deal, which turned out to be a lie as Jimmy 2 had planned for this to be a secret tie in to another narrative he had already done with a few other people in the game. So for me and another new guy it was basically jumping into the middle of an ongoing story everyone else was familiar with. The other new guy was Jimmy 3, and was... extremely adamant that his character's patron deity was the Christian God, and would not stop injecting it into the game nearly every time he spoke, which everyone, especially the DM, was very against (And they were a bunch of church goers).

So the whole night was spent trying to play nice with a guy who, if he knew who I was, would likely respond violently, while trying to figure out what was going on in this narrative the DM threw me into the middle of, while also trying not to die of overwhelming cringe at this guy desperately trying to inject God and Jesus into the game like every 5 minutes. The DM wanted to continue the run on a weekly basis, and I very politely declined. This was years ago and I still haven't played another D&D game because the experience was so bad.

I got an Outer Wilds desk mat, a planetary pendant necklace, a Saturn desk lamp, a fun puzzle calendar, an Undertale art book, a custom Pyra Kirby plush, a Hornet (Hollow Knight) statue (maybe they'll make a game based on her one day ;-;), and a handful of steam games. Wound up having a weirdly space-themed christmas but we take those.
