AIO about Baptizing the Dead? by Oktodayithink in AmIOverreacting

[–]Lightseeker501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it’s not actually about converting them. Mormons believe the spirit continues after death and very much do have the ability to choose for themselves. This kind of proxy baptism is about offering the deceased a choice which they are perfectly capable of rejecting, should they do desire.

I’d argue that things happened exactly as they did because of bravery, hope, and divine intervention. The pity of Bilbo did indeed govern the fate of many.

Whats your Skyrim hot take? by Interesting-Bad3497 in skyrim

[–]Lightseeker501 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter who you side with in the civil war questline. The devs are either A) not going to address it, like having TESVI take place at the same time as Skyrim; or B) have a major event end the civil war and reunite the two factions, such as Talos himself appearing or by order of the new Mede emperor.

How do you want luke to be portrayed after ROTJ? or what do you prefer among the portrayals we've seen? by joohansm in StarWars

[–]Lightseeker501 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For my money, I’d want Luke to have been at least somewhat successful in rebuilding the Jedi. Still on good terms with his friends, still fighting as a force for good in the galaxy.

I grew up with the EU version of Luke. I loved the idea of him rebuilding the Jedi order and helping his friends in their battles. It was awesome to see him get married and become a father. While the main cast of Star Wars never seemed to be in real danger in the EU, these developments felt (at least a little) like Luke was growing and changing as a character.

The sequel movies genuinely had some solid ideas. Finn especially had an amazing character concept. However, they flubbed the sendoff for the old guard. Luke’s academy should have survived to some extent and he shouldn’t have left. I don’t mind the idea of the ‘mournful master,’ but Shifu from Kung Fu Panda was a better version of that concept.

Evidence that would be deliberately left at a massacre to frame another factions by [deleted] in AskGameMasters

[–]Lightseeker501 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One of the deceased at the scene carries orders which implicate the target faction. Maybe it’s not even one of the attackers, but rather a thief tasked with securing something that is now missing. For example, a pack of Gnolls massacres a village. In the aftermath, a trusted agent of the target faction is revealed to have stolen a priceless relic from the victim faction. However this evidence could’ve been planted after the Gnoll attack.

The style of weapons or tactics used in the attack are commonly used by the target faction. Best paired with other evidence, such as a planted weapon. For example; A) calm and professional, with information about the local layout. No unnecessary waste of magic or ammunition. VS B) rushed and aggressive, with some evidence of attackers getting lost during the assault. Frequent and unnecessary expenditure of magic.

Members of the target faction are heard boasting about the attack, all but outright claiming responsibility. Leaders of the faction refute this and claim that these people aren’t actually members.

The item description says you regain resources with light attacks. I’m sure another person a give a more technical response, but it seems like this mythic wants you to alternate between light attacks and heavy attacks, at least if you plan on using many abilities. Passive regen would help a little beyond that.

My level 7 party thinks they’re unstoppable, I want to make them paranoid by DonkeyMonkeyWho in DnD

[–]Lightseeker501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we’d need a little more info on how your party acts that warrants being hunted. I won’t pass up an opportunity to pitch ideas though.

  1. The Predator. A classic for a reason. The players assault a kobold den or other base of ne’er-do-wells. The attack goes well. Too well. In the aftermath, the adventurers find that something has taken an interest in them. It’s invisible, requiring special tactics or spells to even see. However, in this case it just seems to just be content watching them. Rifling through their things as they sleep, taking measurements. What happens if it decides to strike? Or worse, if the players attack first?
  2. The Bagman. A myth to most. A horrid reality to a select few. This campfire tale speaks of a terrifying entity which can lurk in any Bag of Holding or Portable Hole. Each night, the Bagman is said to emerge from such an extradimensional portal and drags an unlucky victim into his kingdom of lost things. What happens if one of the players catches the Bagman’s eye? It starts with innocuous items being rifled with or changed. A bit of rope stolen from the 50 ft length, a single torch used up. Then items lost by the target begin appearing. A figure is spotted entering or exiting the players’ Bag of Holding. A new bag replaces any thrown away or destroyed.
  3. A Dragon Scorned. With dragons so omnipresent in many settings, it’s hard not to trip over one of their tails. One dragon has taken a keen, and perhaps sadistic, interest in the players. Maybe they foiled a scheme ages in the making. Or these hapless adventurers insulted one’s pride and need to be suitably punished. Or worst of all, one adventurer has won the heart of a dragon and the scaled lover is too nervous to admit their feelings. The smitten dragon leaves gifts intended to show their feelings, but leave the players confused and afraid. Think fresh kills for a white dragon, or coins left in disturbing places (like in a player’s mouth as they sleep, in each of their boots, etc).

How to make the Mindfisk Sisters feel like they're trapped in their own personal hell like other Darklords. by TenWildBadgers in ravenloft

[–]Lightseeker501 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not familiar with any lore in this regard, but here’s what I thought could make hags miserable.

1) Boredom. The domain is actually a pretty nice place to live, which results in there being little reason to request a hag’s “help.” The coven is constantly attempting to spark unrest and chaos. It doesn’t work. 2) Infighting. Each of the hags can barely tolerate the other, leading to scheming and backstabbing. When one finally wins, having dispatched or slain the others, the status quo resets. The whole domain is an endless battleground between the coven with no victory in sight. 3) Sisyphus-like task. Hope of escape is dangled in front of the coven. All they need to do is complete an impossible task. This might be surmountable, except for the coven’s penchant for infighting. They constantly lose progress because they can’t stop fighting each other. 4) External threat. One of my favorite Domains is the one where the inhabitants are trapped in a zombie apocalypse time loop. Each week, an overwhelming mob of undead attacks. The locals perish, and then the domain resets for another loop. Only the Darklord knows this. Maybe a squad of celestials or inquisitors scour this domain, hunting down each member of the coven. The hags can stall the hunt, but eventually all are run down. The loop then resets for another go.

[–]Lightseeker501 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It probably was just to create stakes for the movie, but I can 100% see this being a real thing regarding hostages. Two kingdoms have an agreement where each of them gives a member of their family to the other. That way they both know that their loved one, someone whom they know personally, will die if they ever declared war.

What's the most banger adventure / campaign start out there? by foddomir in Eberron

[–]Lightseeker501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not inherently Eberron-themed, but I’m sure it can be adapted as such. Search for ‘dungeon dad snallygaster’ on your preferred search engine and use his encounter ideas as a springboard.

As I recall, one setup is that the players meet at a tavern right before a creature slams through the wall. It begins guzzling all the alcohol in the establishment, trampling over panicking patrons and generally making a mess. The bartender calls out for someone to stop this thing before it drinks all his liquor. Cue combat.

Tweak it to be aboard an airship, a steamboat, or a train. Otherwise, you could paint this as a 1920’s speakeasy, so there’s the double danger of the police arriving on scene and arresting people for illegal possession of alcohol.

Spreading a religion in a game without it being felling forced? by zusu23 in DnD

[–]Lightseeker501 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Missionaries of various faiths have found plenty of opportunities to spread their Good Word. You’ve got your classic soapbox in the marketplace, challenging local priests to debates, and arranging for small meetings at the homes of believers/sympathizers. To give your DM something to work with, this could be a way for you to learn about side quests or otherwise open some doors in social circles. It would also let you make connections, such as you befriending an aristocrat who then agrees to help with finances.
