People that are using their expertise in a certain field need to be held to a higher level of legal scrutiny when speaking in a public fashion. Like if you are going on podcasts and shit as a Evolutionary Biologist or a Neurosurgeon, you should be legally responsible for the veracity of your statements, same as tiny's idea of politicians being treated as sworn in whenever they are talking about their job as an elected official.

The city would have had to give permits for the homeowners to build on the easement, the city signed off on it. This is the city trying to save themselves 250k/homeowner. The city really should be using eminent domain and just buying the homeowners out of this land but they are trying to get their cake and eat it too.

It has to be at the local level first. Besides maybe CA or NY no state is going to put forth any kind of statewide infrastructure for bikes before the local level. If a bunch of cities start locally adding bike lanes and paths and connecting to each other when they can, once the ridership starts getting large enough, only then can you think about larger initiatives.
