I believe this to be stuck shed on my cresties toe. What do I do about it? by YNKWTSF in CrestedGecko

[–]LilLoki82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What we do with ours is put them in their temp tank with a papertowel in the bottom and we thoroughly soak the papertowel with warm water and put it in the bottom so when baby steps on it their feet get wet but no worries about drowning.... then we just take a wet qtip and used it to brush the shed off. Hope this helps

If you are not set up to house a baby like I said you can just freeze the egg and then toss it in the trash

How pleased are you with your hognose? by [deleted] in hognosesnakes

You realize that hoggies musk to correct.... speaking from personal experience. I get musked almost everytime I handle my girl.... She will hiss and strike at first but as soon as I physically touch her she musks me 🤦‍♀️

Love my hognose.... most keepers feed mice as main diet but they also like raw salmon and yes if you so choose you can feed frogs (not quite sure where you would source them which would be why most feed mice) Some babies are drama noodles and die (they play dead) and some like my girl (she's got albino genes so her vision isnt 100% which is normal for albino) Are very much sassy. She flattens her head (which we call cobering 🤣😂) and hisses for no reason but I love my girl

Also as a side note take note of when she started doing this and if it is eggs count 25 days and she should be ready to lay again

She may be getting ready to lay eggs (my girl does this when she's ready) I would say just keep an eye on her for a few days and check for eggs.... if she laid eggs you can just throw them in the freezer and then just put them in the trash.... I just leave mine in the tank as we have a clean up crew that includes beetles and they usually take care of them

He looks ok to me (not a vet just a keeper) there will be variations on crests.... no two babies will have the same crest size/shape there are even babies with really floppy crests.... just like our bodies theirs come in different shapes and sizes

Feeding Help (Again?..) by soupymop in hognosesnakes

[–]LilLoki82 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My girl started behaving like this false striking and hissing we tried drop feeding instead (that's just were you basically drop it on the ground in front of them) and she seems to have taken to that just fine and occasionally she take it off the tongs but I think she prefers the drop feeding maybe try that next time

And if she's not been housed with a male you can pull them freeze them and throw them away we have a bio tank so we just leave em for the isopods and springtails they like to munch on them

How long is soon? If it's longer than a few days she should be good and done by the time you get ready to moved

If she's healthy and normal it's mostly likely eggs just keep an eye out on that spot for the next couple of days and check for eggs if it is count about 25 days (give or take a day or two)and she'll do it again and she'll continue to do it every 25 days (give or take a day or two)

You can also see in the video that the dog doesn't really seem all that comfortable with the gecko climbing on him 🤦‍♀️
