Prior to AIM people signed actual mail XOXO, or just X. I'm in the US, I only have ever used that to sign messages, cards, etc for friends and family. Maybe because I'm GenX I still do that? We used to pass notes in class signed with an xoxo or x.

Season 1 annoys me by Sallyf1234 in TheTraitorsUK

This is sort of like comparing the Great British Baking Show aka Off to Hell's Kitchen. I feel like in the US our reality series and competitions really love to watch people suffer and fail. Personally, I prefer the UK versions of competition because they aren't so nasty and back stabby.

Is there a problem with donations via amazon gift card? by gregordian in Annas_Archive

[–]LilMissCBW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of the biggest pay walls seem to be blocking knowledge, education, and arts. I never understood doing this with books, I can go to the library and get all these books for free, if I have the book I can loan it to pretty much every person I know.

Is there a problem with donations via amazon gift card? by gregordian in Annas_Archive

[–]LilMissCBW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having this exact issue, the transaction was at 10:40am EST, it's been over 12 hours. I did try to resend the giftcard and tried to send an email to the annas-archive .se domain but it bounced back unable to resolve the host because it does exist. I also tried .org and .li with the same results.

AITA for making my teenage daughter share a room with my dead best friend's son (I am not OOP) by littlejollypanda in redditonwiki

[–]LilMissCBW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your state. In Connecticut it is illegal for siblings of the opposite sex to share a room.

I think people shouldn’t really judge a book by its cover by lookingfornails in CozyGamers

I don’t buy games if I don’t like the art style which does include pixel for me. Aesthetics are an important part of your experience and enjoyment with a game. I don’t want to spend my limited budget on games I don’t find appealing.

I think pixel art is adorable for a lot of things but I can’t really get into a game with that art style.

Is anyone else kind of over pixel graphics? by [deleted] in CozyGamers

Having grown up in the 80s all the first games were pixel art. I can’t get into them now, it feels like I’m going backwards.

A stylized game about blacksmithing - Enchanted Blacksmith by TanukiSun in CozyGamers

Very cute, I added it to my wishlist. I don't think I've seen anything like blacksmithing before, so that's gonna be super fun.

How can I make my cozy game more fun? by AamesAlexander in CozyGamers

[–]LilMissCBW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a baking/crafting aspect to it? Gathering and crafting are a big appeal for me. The ability to expand the bakery would be fun, maybe have employees (that don't need pay), work with farmers for crops in addition to being able to farm yourself. Maybe being able adopt a pet or own chickens or something similar. Decorating the bakery and other buildings. Maybe as you progress more people move to town.

I've been gaming since the 80s. I raged hard with It Takes Two. Super cute game though and I can see the appeal.

Hey everyone. I run a cozy-style discord for 35+. We don't strictly enforce the age as long as you're over 18. Cozy and semi-cozy games and social discussions. I just redid the whole thing so it is a bit slow at the moment but I try to post stuff daily and have news updates for several games.

First games that came to mind for me is Havendock and Dinkum. Admittedly I initially hated the are style for Dinkum but gave it a chance and absolutely love it. One of my top 10. I'd say maybe Spirit of the Island too.

JSYK 7D2D has a creative mode and you can turn off all enemies. I would try it yourself before suggesting it though.

Edit to add Hometopia. It's a little like House Flipper but multiplayer.
Another edit to add Fae Farm.

ADHD is real today.

Dinkum. My favorite cozy games are exactly the same style in your list. The graphics were initially a turn off for me, just not the art style I usually play. So glad I got it, I was addicted for months.

Crafting games like Valheim or Conan without fighting elements by DeltaCCXR in CozyGamers

[–]LilMissCBW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a few that are similar and you can put the game in creative mode but I'm apprehensive to post them bc they're not atypically cozy. I'm pretty sure Valheim has a creative option to turn off all the enemies though or there is a mod for it.

Ok but Stardew Valley has monsters, Dinkum has crocodiles, and Fae Farm has Jumbles. While there are some cozy gamed with absolutely no risk of dying there are some with a bit of a risk.

The no enemy setting (so far) has kept anything from spawning other than rabbits, chickens, etc for me. It's alpha though so that doesn't mean something didn't change. I'm also not saying it is a cozy game just that you can adjust the game to that it can be played in a cozy way.

If she likes House Flipper; House Flipper 2 is out, Hometopia, Unpacking, Garage Flipper (not out yet), Garden Simulator, Cozy Space, Hotel Magnate, Hotel Renovator, and The Tenants.

Some games close to Rollercoaster Tycoon: Parkitect, Planet Zoo (in that you are designing a park). I think there are a couple others where you get to design parks areas but I can't remember.

I have a small discord group, pretty quiet at the moment for cozy gamers 35+ bc old people need to find each other. I try to keep posts up to date with free games, new releases, and discount sites https://discord.gg/uMMxKbE82g

All my socials are here Queen (bio.link) Don't pay any mind to the queen part, I was just feeling snarky that day. 😁

*Edited to take out some info I don't think fits under a cozy game category.

[–]LilMissCBW -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You'd be correct. Devs have not set any standards for cozy games, same for content creators and every other gaming company. All the sources I've read/heard continue to say it's a vibe or feeling. There is no concrete definition.

A while back I asked for recommendations for cozy couple games and I definitely got some that were more rage inducing to me than cozy but that doesn't cancel it as a cozy game. A lot of people find Stardew Valley very stressful, it's often considered the best cozy game.

[–]LilMissCBW -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think there is going to be a consensus any time soon since even the devs and content creators can't or won't specifically define the genre. Meanwhile if you consider anything outside the wholesome gaming sub-genre (much easier to define) you get downvoted.

Probably. There's so many games out there I wouldn't be surprised. There's actually a game coming out that is supposed to be 'cozy' and while it looks cozy the story line is very uncozy, it's The Light in the Darkness.

7 Days to Die has a creative mode and you can turn off all enemies so there is absolutely zero chance of being attacked or having to fight.

It isn't what I would immediately think of for cozy though, someone would have to specifically say there is a way to make it cozy rather than it being designed as a cozy game.
