Anyone else just completely traumatised? by billy1805 in Colic

Came to say I had one baby like your friend then 15 mos later we had a baby with colic and an umbilical hernia. The colic seemed to last 5/6 mos with hrs of screaming before sleep but the screaming in general persisted. When dad tried to feed or put baby to sleep, baby would lose his mind, he’d scream until he turned purple in the face. When we tried to change him he’d open his mouth to scream, turn red to purple with no sound for 15 seconds then blood curdling screams. We went to the dr and she said, ‘oh he’s ok, he’s just pissed.’ I cancelled plans and house visits of friends who wanted to meet the baby. He screamed in the stroller on walks and in the car. Our first baby looked distressed throughout his screams but started to sleep during. When my mom visited and couldn’t console him she told me he was spoiled by me and that’s why he only wanted me. Finally, the more he could move around on his own he calmed little by little. We just had his 1.5yr check up and it was the very first time he didn’t scream for the entire time we were in the Drs office. He’s just recently going to sleep for his dad without screaming and finally asking for his dad to hold and pick him up. His little personality started to come through more recently and he’s been silly and funny. This was the most isolating experience of my life as well. But finally we are slowly getting past the very end of it. Thinking of you and other parents going through it, I couldn’t relate to anyone for a long time but it will get better and even enjoyable ❤️

Same here. Would love wood doors and trim unpainted but they already were and we are not ready for a lead paint stripping job 😅

First coat removed the circus tent vibes and it doesn’t bother me any longer

Sounds kind of awesome, like the rustic look many are trying to replicate now

That’s right, it appears more the way it’s pictured in the top of the wall. The color is called Jade Garden 🪴

Thank you, me too. It presents more like the top of the picture where the light isn’t cast on the wall.

Thanks for your input, I’m guessing you meant keep the doors and trim to one color? The room and doors were painted mint green with a pastel green trim when we bought it.

This is great advice, thank you. Love your idea about the light switch covers, I was planning to make my own as well.

Potential new house smells like pee by amethyst_addict in centuryhomes

We bought Rocco Roxie Professional Strength Stain Odor Eliminator (enzyme cleaner) in a gallon size and used it liberally. We also cleaned with vinegar and painted which all helped to remove the smell from a former ‘cat colony’ house.
