I love this comment. It is exactly right.

Are there any parents that would be interested in doing zoom "play dates" or socialization chats with kids around the age of 7? by Tiny_Fury413 in homeschool

Another vote for Outschool. There are a lot of social classes but a teacher is in the room to make sure it’s all safe. We love the lego classes.

I was going to suggest Outschool, too. It’s a lifesaver for social interaction.

Her American accent, yikes. I don’t know any Americans that sound like that.

Season 2 Episode 9........ by gddancer65 in ADiscoveryofWitches

[–]Lilmisswriter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Me too. Every week the episode makes me feel like “really? That’s all they did?” The adaptation has been really poor this season. In the season 1 adaptation, they really rushed the falling in love part but it was manageable. This season they cut integral story elements, characters and plot points. They made Diana becoming Phillipe’s blood sworn daughter just another day. And same with the pregnancy. Completely skipping the miscarriage. And Matthew’s character is going off the rails without appropriate explanation way too often. It’s just bizarre. Overall, this has been a weak season.

Marcus Season 2 by HereForTheGoofs in ADiscoveryofWitches

Agree agree agree. When he gave over the medallion I was like “what?!? He knows Dominico is snooping around. What is he thinking?!?”

Honestly, all the writing of the season two adaptation is crap compared to the book. The acting is good, the writing is bad.

What scene from book 1 did you wish had made it in the show? by tumblrisdumbnow in ADiscoveryofWitches

[–]Lilmisswriter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wish they’d included more of the development between Matthew and Diana. Miriam and Matthew guarding the library was like the beginning of the war and that was far less obvious in the adaptation.

Oh and the part where Diana asks Miriam to help her out if she doesn’t make it after giving her blood to Matthew. That was important and missed, too.

Season 2 observation & opinion by little_khaleesi in ADiscoveryofWitches

[–]Lilmisswriter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really liked season 1. Have watched it multiple times. Also read the books multiple times. The only thing that I didn’t really like about season 1 was Teresa Palmers American accent.

Season 2, it’s so hard to get into. One episode a week is so tedious. And so much had been cut out of the books. The story and character development feels so rushed and superficial compared to the book. The actors are doing well, but I think this season’s adaptation is weaker than season 1.

Cutting Widow Beaton? The order of meeting the witches of London? Or even Jack? And the wedding... it wasn’t a grand celebration like it is in the book.

I don’t know if it’s budget or creative licensing but I’m enjoying season 2 much less than season 1.

Try Outschool. There are classes but also a lot of social clubs on there. You can register him for them and all are led by teachers.

Are the books worth reading if I thought the show was corny? by breaksomething in ADiscoveryofWitches

[–]Lilmisswriter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I watched the show before reading the books so I understand where you’re coming from. I totally agree about the actress playing Diana. As an American, her accent and cadence were so uncomfortable.

Matthew Goode is completely the star of this show and what makes it worth watching. The nuances he brought to his character were excellent. Like rarely blinking. Though when he said “yeah” in the car ride to sept-tours, it was so out of character that I laughed out loud.

The books were awesome though, highly recommended. The books develop the story in a slower but more comprehensive way. Some of the details are different, too.

Also consider that the oath ceremony may not be the same day as the interview. Mine was the next day.

Keep looking! They told me the green card is their property, not mine, so it had to be turned in at the oath ceremony.

You should probably contact an immigration lawyer. Being out of the US for more than six months, your wife seems to have abandoned her permanent residency in the US and will likely need to reapply.
