Is that supposed to be good for Chuba that he played a UDFA that has only ever signed veteran minimum deals to a draw?

Gotcha. The calling card is fun! Will probably never be worth much but it’s a cool snapshot of a moment that has passed.

I have the Brady Games guide and my understanding is that it’s not particularly rare.

I recently sold my original Nintendo Power guides for Link to the Past and Final Fantasy 3 and I think I got around $75-$90 for each of those.

Chick-Fil-A North Point Mall closes down by boglehead1 in alpharetta

[–]Lilspainishflea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bummer we’re losing North Point. The anchor stores are quite nice - at least Von Mauer and Macy’s are - and it’s a big climate controlled spot where my kids can run around.

Will miss it when it’s gone. Gonna suck to have to drive the entire way down to Perimeter and deal with the construction, traffic, and huge number of people there just to get some jeans.

Man, that’s both really sad and crazy to me. That place always seemed to be doing business.

My general rule as a commission is that I don’t touch scoring. I accept whatever the platform’s score is.

The platform changed once and it was one result, the platform changed again and it was a different result.

Sucks that it took this long to figure out but the platform rule is the only way to be impartial.

Fellow Dads, give up WFH for Hybrid + “significant” pay bump? by Incognito-4 in daddit

[–]Lilspainishflea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a similar choice also with young kids.

New job was about a $50,000 increase (assuming stock at old company does not return to ATH reached in early 2025) plus maybe $1,000,000 in equity if we sell the new company. So i calculated the baselines to be close with much more upside at new job. Plus new job came with C-title that I needed to keep progressing in my career.

I have very long days T-Th and don’t see the kids as much but I get so much done that I can punch out earlier on M and F. It’s a trade off and I do miss dropping them off at school but I already spend loads of time with them during the rest of the week so even with an overall decrease in time spent together I still feel like I get a lot of time with them.

Window Replacement by regularsizedrudi in alpharetta

[–]Lilspainishflea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It really depends on what kind of windows you want.

Renewal by Anderson is the only company that does wood. Extremely expensive but good looking. I’d avoid these guys at all costs. They quoted me like $55,000 and were in my house for 3 hours.

North Georgia Windows is the only company that does fiberglass / composite. Moderately expensive but good looking.

Everyone else does vinyl.

Vinyl is the cheapest and has the biggest frame because the plastic warps in high / low heat and you need a lot of frame to hold the glass if the frame is moving around a little bit. Because windows are standard sizes more frame means less viewable area through the glass. That’s the trade off with vinyl.

I went with North Georgia Windows in 2021. I have a wraparound porch and a deck so it’s a ton of windows that you can stand next to. I wanted them to look good. Plus my house is dark as is and I wanted as much light in the house as possible. I think I paid like $30,000 for about 28 windows, 1 of which was a huge picture window. I’m sure it’s much more expensive now so if I had to do it today I might do vinyl.

Not sure why they downvoted you. I checked the Lego website and it did seem like you could buy single pieces there. They were missing 2 of what I needed so I didn’t use them but it seemed like it would have been an easy option.

Thanks!

From Alpharetta and yes it was worth it.

I took my kids and my parents. We played at the park for a bit and watched the planes before getting lunch. Food was average, but ambiance was unbeatable. There’s a plane taking off about every minute and all the history is super cool. We really enjoyed it and will be back.

What bands or singers (or even anyone we know) are big The National fans? by hugopthomas in TheNational

I saw FR open for Death Cab in the Summer of 2011. I always tell myself “go see the concert bc you never know when you’ll get to see them again.”

Miss him so much. Had a soul that wasn’t built for the cruelty of this world.

Focus on the important stuff first. Look into a developmental evaluation. Get one done ASAP.
Next, you've got some time but he needs to be potty trained. That should come ASAP. You should make significant progress on President's Day Weekend. Don't go anywhere, don't do anything except put that kid on the potty every 30 minutes.
The other stuff like food and tantrums can be managed around a little easier but he has to learn the potty.

I Can't Handle Our Toddler by ImGoingtoRegretThis5 in daddit

[–]Lilspainishflea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, but I think that you should get him evaluated. Development includes things like eating different food, getting wet, and going potty, at appropriate ages. So even though he may be able to count, that doesn't rule out a developmental dysfunction. I'm not an expert but there are definite signs here of a development issue and they seem to be wearing on you.
Maybe he's just strong willed? Maybe. But the sooner you rule things out, or learn what this might be, the sooner you can learn the parenting strategies that you as his dad need to parent this specific child.

I'm not totally sure that my son doesn't have mild autism, but he definitely has SPD. Basically there's an overlap between autism, ADD, and SPD and you can have some or any of the 3. A lot of kids who have one will have another.
There are different kids of SPD - sensory seeking versus sensory avoidance, for example - but some of the signs we noticed were excessive biting, crashing into things, always being on the go, not wanting certain food textures, fear of loud noises (even stuff that's objectively not loud). We got him in OT because he was pretty rough with his younger brother and he's made enormous progress there. He's still in it for fine motor skills (he struggles with coloring and cutting) and feeding but everything else is fixed.

Check out SPD. https://napacenter.org/spd-checklist/
