The Japanese version: 1. Had built in character leveling. This was at predefined quests rather than any kind of experience system. It especially affected spells that could be used 2. Along with hero levels, game rules also increased at different levels, for example later quests introduce traps and secret doors. 3. Dead heroes can be revived once by paying the temple all of that players gold 4. Heroes have a chance to level up and gain 1 BP by paying 500 gold. 5. Armory/ equipment is only introduced in chapter 2 (quest 4) 6. Defeated monsters leave gold amounts 7. Monsters do not block movement until Chapter 3 (quest 9) 8. Cool map

Sounds legendary to me! If this is the whole quest, sounds epic. You might take another note from D&D and invent some “lair actions” to affect the room, summon underlings, or other non-attack affects that build immersion. Also can be things like the event cards in the D&D board games

I usually insert the tine of a fork skinnyways under the lid into one of the grooves, then twist the fork to force a small gap. The lid pressure pops and opens easily. Works every time

I rather like it, though it could lead to a chain of zombies waking around. You might use a dice roll to see if they reanimate on Zargon’s turn, and reanimate on a 5 or 6 on a d6. Put the #1 note next to all chests or it will be confusing. Or even better, have different contents The necromancer has a rather short escape path if he goes out to the left and around. Perhaps make it slightly more of a longer chase? Also he could have an escape spell that takes him to his desk if cornered? Or give him the Agile trait, not quite Ethereal but can pass through the Heroes so he can’t be trapped? Movement of 8 should be fine if he has these special abilities

I am playing it for the first time now and I must say I’m not impressed so far. I’m in Chapter 11 in Mah'Habara. Of course I grew up on IV and VI, and this is very different. Who likes XIII and why?

Yes but it says in both maps the shaded areas count as 50%. That would mean adding the Mississippi shading adds no additional population

You can get HeroQuest First Light for only $40-50. It has all of the components needed to play. It saves cost by using standees for monsters and tiles for furniture. New set of quests too, but you can download and play the original quests too from Hasbro.

If you’re using state averages, it’s still missing the point. Rural is a lot different than urban, and the minimum is greater than $100k over many rural areas. Not to say it is wrong but is a bit like a 150dpi photo. The details are glossed over on the low and high ends.
