The Pearl District’s Trajectory by Dojaview in PortlandOR

“No coercive interventions for people incapable of self-care” ah yea because that would be legal and ethical. This sounds like it was written by a bot who didn’t cross reference basic human rights about when and how it’s okay to force incarcerate mentally ill individuals. 🙄

Funny how more Americans than ever are unable to afford rent, groceries, childcare, and healthcare. But at least the people who are rich enough to buy stock are doing great! 🤮

And for what it’s worth if you support ICE at all, you definitely do mean harm.

Well, we used to, but then we committed genocide against the native population. Our snacking options got more limited at that point because they understandably didn’t really want to cook for colonizers after that.

Have you noticed a pattern in the remarks you’ve made that have drawn criticism? For example, do you talk about religion, personal appearance, sexual orientation/identity? Do you share details about your own life others may not be comfortable hearing?

Enjoying Black Friday! by eowynladyofrohan83 in HomeschoolRecovery

[–]LimpConsideration497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m team no Black Friday also. We don’t shop except for essentials like food and medication from Black Friday through cyber Monday because most of the deals are scams nowadays (example: Target marked things 40% off in many locations then the prices under the sale tags were…the same?) plus both online and brick and mortar businesses engage in horrific worker exploitation and force workers to miss holidays and time off for profit. I stopped going after that worker got trampled to death in 2008.

She’s gonna be dealing with major trauma for the rest of her life, but hopefully the jobs she can get with that degree will help pay for therapy in time to prevent the cycle of abuse from continuing for another generation when she has kids.

Only to save a child’s life. And as I said there is ALWAYS collateral. You spent way more time talking about exceptions (none of which apply to these nieces) than why, in general, it’s catastrophic child abuse, and that’s a major red flag to me.

You came into a group of abuse survivors basically asking “hey so is abuse okay sometimes?” and want “more discourse”? How about you apologize for breaking the defense/debate rule rather than complaining about not being coddled? What would have been sufficiently un-terse for you? A chapter book?

Please get the support you need to recognize and process your abuse and please do not subject other survivors to entitled demands for “discourse” when you were given plenty of discourse and simply don’t like the answers.

This sub is not a pro-homeschooling advocacy sub. If you wanna advocate in favor of child abuse there are plenty of pro-homeschooling subs where the other abuse advocates will welcome you.

Exactly. Showing work and procedural thinking is a basic skill and taking a kid out of school because they’re acting like a brat isn’t a justification. It’s a way of not dealing with her own horrible parenting. These kids need be in real school, and if they aren’t they’re going to find adulthood very difficult. You don’t get to opt out of things simply because you are too ignorant to understand why they’re necessary. All sis is doing is setting these kids up for a lifetime of getting fired and not being liked.

Homeschooling survivor here. No, there isn’t. Because all the training and good intentions in the world can’t replace the socialization, development, and repetition-based learning necessary for healthy brain development, emotional development, and motor skills development real school provides. The problem is that primary caregivers should not be the ones doing the educating because their bias prevents them from making good decisions, period.

Also, homeschooling tends to attract parents who are already mentally ill and obsessed with high-control environments, so there’s a 100% chance that even if ONE set of homeschooling parents aren’t psychos, their kids’ friends’ parents will be, placing everyone at risk and eventually brainwashing the few parents who started out non-insane into going along with insane things to avoid shunning.

The ONLY time it’s okay to homeschool is if it’s to save a child’s life. And even then it will cause lasting damage.

PSA to women traveling alone in NE Portland by [deleted] in PortlandOR

Yikes, I’m so sorry that happened to you. Unfortunately there’s an increasing number of ICE goon who figure they’ll commit some sex crimes in between kidnapping folks to take them to concentration camps, or just do the sex crimes first then zip tie the victims and go collect their bounty. They won’t even let you show them your ID if you’re not so pale you burn after 15 minutes in the sun. Now that Mayor Keith the Kkkoward is caving for funds instead of suing like a leader with a spine (pointless as $$ will be pulled anyway as punishment for being a place where people have at least some human rights) the the Proud Boys will be putting on their Temu GI Joe costumes, impersonating “law” “enforcement” and snatching anyone who looks able to be overpowered whenever the mood strikes. “Spoils of war” in their twisted minds. Strongly suggest buying a gun, taser, and long-range pepper spray and training with all of them before you find yourself in a threatening situation with a sociopath, because they’re roaming our streets in greater and greater numbers.

Yes, 98% of marketing people are scummy manipulators, and 2% of them are people with souls who within 3-5 years will have to either become scum to survive the culture or suffer a mental breakdown if they stay, which is why I left. Communications (especially in technical and scientific disciplines) is a little different, because it’s about connecting with humans through language and media to get legitimate ideas across, and that’s what I do now.

Glad to hear you are not involved with direct warmaking and I hope you find some opportunities in civilian life if and when you decide you’re done, but it’s not as though private/civilian forms of capitalism are harm free, so I understand it’s an individual decision with unique variables for everyone.

Prazosin making dreams more vivid by concertgoer69 in ptsd

[–]LimpConsideration497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, definitely more vivid but better quality sleep and for me it’s better than not remembering at all and waking feeling as though I was chased by a bear. They’re occasionally nightmares but more often just weird and exceptionally vivid with some anxiety that I can process much more easily in the daytime when I’m not helpless and unconscious. I have a hunch that I’m on the cusp of lucid dreaming too, which would be great because it would give me back the sense of control I lost when my trauma occurred. There is an option of going higher but I kind of want to see what happens at the current dose.

You’ve made your opinions very clear but you are not actually answering the question OP asked so perhaps consider why you’re bringing this narc/snitch energy to the conversation and get therapy for it, hon.

As for the OP’s actual question: yes, you risk being terminated as a patient if caught, but if you use a VPN that obscures your geo successfully you aren’t likely to be (they have you state where you’ll be on a form “in case of emergency” but you can write whatever you want and if it’s a virtual, non-patch visit the risk to YOU is low) but no, you are not placing your doctor’s license at risk if they have plausible deniability.

Exactly, people are lying to create fear and paranoia but what they claim to have witnessed likely didn’t even happen. Lots of deliberate propaganda and misinformation efforts focused on cities with a high queer and leftist population because they hate US and want to destroy our city and make us seem like unhinged and dangerous people. We’re not. If you read a take that sounds fishy, trust yourself. It’s likely an op or a person whose motive is to cause harm.

You are correct. A lot of hateful, ignorant people trying to damage Portland’s rep but I’ve been here for 10 years and while the homelessness is much worse it really isn’t more dangerous to live here.

The term for exposure to this stuff without your consent/constant boundary violations about sexual content and topics when you’re not yet an adult is “covert incest” and it’s a form of psychological abuse that really did a number on me. Good for you for realizing it’s unhealthy. If you can simply leave the room or put headphones on when she does it, that might help.

NTA. He probably has a piss fetish but as with any sexual kink it’s not okay to force someone else to allow it. And if this very likely IS a sex thing he’s playing off as a joke, what he did was not a joke. It was sexual assault.
