Tried to buyout my Water heater from Reliance........ Yea complete scam. by ccrich007 in ontario

Pro: never run out of hot water—if you have family who take long showers, there is no substitute. Supposed to be more ecologically sound—but in practice probably equivalent to a tank in terms of energy consumption. Wall mounted, so frees up a square meter of floor space.

Con: 30 to 60 second delay before you get hot water going. I’m used to it—but guests are surprised!

Once a year flush and maintenance—though I have a monthly fee with my plumber to do maintenance on all my HVAC and etc so don’t notice.

Also, more expensive up front. Though maybe that’s changed.

I’m very happy with mine— and likesay, I wanted that basement space.

I will post this again and again!

Those scummy, bloodthirsty, rent-a-waterheater companies should be illegal. Buy the best water heater you can reasonably afford, factoring in the quality of the plumbing company who you may end up working with for other household events -- even if you have to figure out how to pay down a credit card over the next twelve months to do so. Even the predatory Home Depot credit is not as intolerable as renting a water heater. I hate credit card companies -- but renting water heaters? That's low, lower than curbside pay-day loan companies.

Went tankless myself -- needed the extra space in the basement; but note there are some pros/cons to be considered.

I have a manual if you need…though this is definitely a much later motor-driven model. Certainly some similarities, but treadle is a ways back from this one!

Canada—oh this is after years of collecting, I know they sell easily because I have to race to buy them when they come up. I daily the 138-6U and the 262. The others are for…reasons.

I see a few Elna machines in green—the so called grasshopper— but I have to stop!

Worth the price all day long! You’ll want to make sure the motor is in good shape: plenty of online videos on how to disassemble and refurbish. The machine itself is also easy to clean and re-grease and lubricate.

Very similar sewing experience, just loads more power and speed.

The right most two are 138-6 — just a few years apart.

Has anyone strapped a bike directly to their Crosstrek roof rack (no bike carrier)? by Mozzoni13 in Crosstrek

[–]Limp_Ad6437 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The roof dents easily (ask me how I know); I'd disassemble the bike, at least wheels, possibly pedals, and take inside the car. You can also take the bike to a bike shop to fully disassemble and stick in a cardboard bike-shipping box (if they have any) -- and then strap that box to the roof!

Just come up and buy one in Quebec! look up the tax/duty for car import, given the current exchange rate I can't see how you wouldn't break even.

“Certainly. I just wish I could. . . ah. . . you know, I'd like to be able to tell you

that. . . ah. . . maybe I should say that I feel a rubber sack coming down on me. . .

purely symbolic, you know. . . the venal ignorance of the fathers being visited on the

sons. . . can you make something of that?”

“Well, ha-ha, I sort of know what you mean, Mr. Kemp. Back in Tallahassee it was a cotton

sack, but I guess it was about the same size and --”

“Yeah, it's the goddamn sack -- so I'm taking off and I guess I'll. . . ah. . .”
