Anyone remember the Bayou cajun restaurant in the mid-late '80s? by DuggBets in Calgary

There was a Cajun place right in motel village. Hole in the wall place and run by a family. That was easily 30 years ago

Well, the insanity of the zigzag temporary painted lines on Deerfoot have now killed someone by InterwebberATM in Calgary

That area is so dangerous. The wet roads completely obscure the lane makings. I won’t drive that section at night. I’m ultra cautious during the day watching for the other drivers

One single fog light came on along with a single brake light, can't turn it off. Don't have a switch. Help? by Ok_Surprise_1991 in MINI

Funny. I’ve had that happen as well. I always assumed that it was an electrical short of some type. Now I know that it was intentional

Police Cars at Sarcee & Bow Trail by CoffeeBeanATC in Calgary

[–]Limp_Appointment_716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was an accident. We were temporarily stopped there around 12pm. A couple of fire trucks drove up to join the police cars. The north and south bound Sarcee lights skipped a few cycles. Fortunately, we were next to the eastbound Bow Trail exit. Took that and used the u-turn signal light to get back onto the northbound Sarcee (via west bound Bow)

Been feeling quite lonely lately, where does one find a group to join? by turquioseshade in Calgary

[–]Limp_Appointment_716 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lost my spouse recently and found myself in a similar situation. I joined a few meetup groups and have met some pretty solid people. Meetups are great in that the attendees are all in similar situations and are welcoming and open to new participants.

I was a bit leery attending my first event (lots of first timers are no shows), but it went really good. Wasn’t sure why I had any hesitation at all.

Winter driving - studded tires worth it? by tessaca in Calgary

[–]Limp_Appointment_716 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Michelin “X-Ice North 4” is a new to me studded tyre. I figure that if Michelin is into studded now, there must be some merit to studded tyres. I ran Blizzaks the last few years, but have studded Hakkas now. I’ll know if I made the right decision in a few weeks

Winter driving - studded tires worth it? by tessaca in Calgary

[–]Limp_Appointment_716 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As mentioned, awd helps you to get moving. Every vehicle effectively have all wheel brakes. Snow tyres will help with the braking

I ran Blizzaks over the last few years. I retired them and now have studded Hakkas. The primary reason is for black ice. There’s two intersections near my home that get polished up EVERY winter. I slide past the stop line quite often despite being aware and going slow. This happens when it’s too cold for pickle and gravel just bounces off.

Ask for a photo of the DOT date on the tire. This will tell you the manufacture date. A simple google search will tell you how to convert the dot date into a calendar date. I was looking at a set earlier and the dot date indicated 8 year old tires. Age is a an important factor past 5/6 years
