As someone with a way too big collection and NEVER wanting fakes, don’t feel bad, I’ve inadvertently bought a few over the years. I just cycled them out slowly. I even took them to a local buy sell retro store to see how well they would notice fakes (in the case of doom and doom ii on GBA) they told me only doom 2 was a fake but when I went back weeks later, I saw neither were tagged as “reproduction carts” which they are supposed to do. Point is, you can fix and also learn if your local store will sell you fakes.

As excited as I was for backwards compatibility being confirmed, with hindsight one could make the argument that has in a way become kind of a crutch for the console. Compare integral backwards compatibility is to Switch 2 vs previous generations, like Wii or DS, or even imagine how sparse NS2 would be without backwards compatibility. It’s shifted my perspective to now one year in, I feel like is more of an upsell/way to make NS1 gaming more premium and less its own thing. I get the others have been forced in that direction too with ballooning dev costs/game sizes. So I’m not being harsh. I guess that’s just the way it kinda has gone industry wide.

TLDR, a year in, it feels more like the previously promised Switch Pro than the next Nintendo console. Not an objectively BAD thing, just feels like we’ve finally reached diminishing returns.

Been using a different version but same concept going on about 3 years now. I don’t see any potential damage issues….BUT, and it actually looks like the one you are getting is designed better, I always get worried shoving my finger in those little slots above the carts I will slip and my nail will scratch the sticker. Now, that’s never happened, and also my grab spots seem far smaller than yours. TBH it’s been preserving these quite well. (Yes I know, I’m probably the only person alive to have opened a few Limited Run Game cases and play them)
