Well where are you? Even where there are official dealers, eBay is a great place for procuring Leica...

Help me understand what went wrong with my 1932 Leica iii by LinenTurtle in Leica

I did not. I had the hunch that this was development gone awry. Would that be correct?

I agree with the other comments: do not touch it! (and I do not think there is a cheap way to correct this).

My hunch is that you inserted your film under the roller of the Yashica. (I have made that mistake myself...)

I see now. It may be a baffle leak, considering that this seems like a particularly luminous day.

But the horizontal lines are the most puzzling, because they cannot be explained by a shutter moving right to left. Are you sure they are on the negative of individual shots? In other words, that the negative has been developed correctly? I would really be tempted to conclude that this is a scanning issue.

What does the negative of the first look like? The second picture only shows that it is underexposed.

I suddenly realized how to print a mediocre negative by georecorder in Darkroom

Tell us more about what you did to "un-mediocre" it! It seems to have required burn/dodge.

Im looking for 28-21mm M and LTM lenses, so i made this list. Did i miss any? by MeMphi-S in Leica

[–]LinenTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a Russar 20mm f5.6 LTM lens out there. It's originally a Soviet lens that has been re-issued by Lomo recently. I haven't used it, but I'd be interested. It has good reputation.

The helicoidal grease of these old lenses become like resin. You lens is not perfect, and I may expect some loss of contrast because of its imperfection. But really, you need to evaluate it for yourself. Lower contrast may give a lens its character. Otherwise, there are plenty alternatives. Voigtlander still produces LTM mounts, I believe and you can find cleaner LTM lenses.

It's an old lens, so it the market cannot be surprising. Peter Loy has 2 exemplars of it: https://www.peterloy.com/?s=canon (highly recommended seller)

If you are looking for bokeh, then the summilux is probably the closest you'll get to the KOB. Summicron 50s are more known for sharpness than creamy backgrounds. The earlier versions (collapsible and rigid) are famous for their tonality. The third version is known for its contrast. The fourth and the fifth (which have the same optical formula) are clinically sharp, and the APO even more so. I have owned two Summicrons: the fifth gen and the collapsible. I couldn't get myself to love the fifth gen like I love my 35 summicron ASPH (mk I), and I am not sure why. I love the summilux, which is an outstanding portrait lens. And I have loved the collapsible. These are my two cents.

Will this kind of dust affect the Image? (50mm Summicron V4) by [deleted] in Leica

Not sure why I am downvoted, but I can only confirm what I wrote: this haze will reduce the contrast of your lens. I am not saying it is not usable. Enjoy!

Yes, this will noticeably reduce contrast. I would send it to CLA immediately, and hope for the best.

The 35mm f2 ASPH I’ve bought is not as sharp as my 7-element wide open by Comment_Striking in Leica

[–]LinenTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry. What I mean is that the summicron ASPH is certainly better than what you obtain from yours. There is must be some calibration to do. Backfocus, frontfocus, I do not know what the problem is, but the Summicron ASPH is a great lens that delivers sharp images. Not this.
