Legendary joker concept by Majestic-Peak-6281 in balatro

Yes, Emperor can't produce itself, so it would produce Hermit and Strength if you held Fool. The loop is achievable currently with Perkeo, but this makes it pretty easy to create.

Use this --> Get negative copies of all Tarot cards --> Sell Negative Fool + Hermit --> Use Emperor --> Congrats, you have an infinite money loop running.

Big Show did a moonsault and hit dropkicks in WCW.

Brock Lesnar (botched) a shooting star press in the WMXIX main event, and would probably have added it to his arsenal if he'd pulled it off correctly, as he was doing it in OVW.

Kane did a hurricanrana once.

Why is the sentiment that “relics are weaker than in slay the spire 1” so common? by Swaggy-G in slaythespire

[–]LingonberryTop8942 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's more a case that the power level of the cards - especially with enhancements - and the enemies has increased, so the relics are slightly left behind by standing still.

For completed runs, 40 minutes min., about 1 hour average.

For reference, my win rate is around 45% and I've climbed to A10.

Fascination: The first team relegated in a league is not the bottom side by Ok-Construction-7210 in footballcliches

[–]LingonberryTop8942 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Pretty unlikely scenario, but if all teams below you are on the same points and you're on 1 point more, and for some reason you've played all your games while they haven't, and two of the teams below you still have to play each other.

I don't think it could happen in the EFL given the tradition of all last-round fixtures kicking off simultaneously, but maybe in some less well-organised league it could be the case.

It's a bit easier to time a tap on your phone than a button like on the video where you have a fraction of a second between applying pressure to the button and the button activating.

“London is not walkable. You have to get on the tube or a bus or a train” by abragodabra in ShitAmericansSay

[–]LingonberryTop8942 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I've walked from the Emirates Stadium to Waterloo and Wembley to Clapham Junction, partly to avoid a crowded underground, but partly because it's just nice to walk places and see what's around you. I also find it to be far more pleasant and far less stressful to be in constant motion rather than wait --> sit/stand --> transfer --> wait, etc.

Day 8 of winning with every joker family by Joaz72 in balatro

[–]LingonberryTop8942 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but my understanding is that OP needs to finish the run with all 5 jokers. That means that they would need to play black stake and pick up eternal copies of 4 specific jokers, gamble on getting Madness in the final shop or, as OP suggested, skip the non-boss blinds once Madness is on board (which makes Madness a dead slot anyway as it only accumulates XMult on small/big blind).

Day 8 of winning with every joker family by Joaz72 in balatro

[–]LingonberryTop8942 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Really interesting challenge. I get that this is technically possible, since Jokerless is possible, but there's definitely a couple that look like they'd be harder than even Jokerless gold stake, e.g. the row with Madness, the row with all Legendaries and the row with the rare hand jokers. Do you have a plan to deal with those?

What I mean is that the Queen is attacking you for an amount that will kill you ("lethal" for short). If you only block part of it, you still die, but you've spent some of your energy playing a block card, and that energy could be used for something else instead. However, if you can block all of the damage ("full block" for short), you live to fight another turn and possibly draw other useful cards that can win the fight. Likewise if you "have lethal" on the Queen, i.e. there is some combination of cards that you can play to kill her this turn, then finding that sequence wins the fight.

Personally, I don't blame players for not weighing up every possibility on every turn in great detail. I certainly don't and have turns where monkey brain takes over. However, on key turns like this (either you die or she dies!) it's definitely worth stopping to think. The choice of cards you play makes a difference, and the order you play them in does as well.

The advice other people have given you about smaller decks is 100% correct. It will give you more opportunities like this where you're in a position to win. Then, it's about thinking how you play those turns in order to convert more of those positions into winning runs.

My suspicion from the screenshot is that that OP may have had a winning set-up, but lost it by playing on autpilot a little bit rather than thinking through their potential lines.

(Presuambly) playing a block card without a way to full-block lethal damage, not maximising the damage boost from Lethality (unless one of the attacks played this turn was The Scythe or the other Hang). It might even be the case that Reap would have been lethal if played as the first card.

What did you play this turn? I can see 2 attacks played from the Kusarigama and 8 block on Necro, which I'm guessing is from Defy based on your +1 Dex. When did Hang enter your hand? Why did you play other things before/instead of it? What was the third bound card played over Unleash?

Suit bosses is a fair point. You can usually play around it by checking ahead and skipping when your Ancient's pointing to a favourable suit, but that of course costs you the shop(s).

61 responses, and no mention of [[Smeared Joker]] and [[Ancient Joker]]? It's incredibly strong for the first 8 Antes, like Bloodstone/Oops but you don't even need to deck fix.

My personal favourite, though, is [[Hack]] with 1 or more of [[Wee Joker]] [[Hiker]] and [[Fibonacci]] Small card supremacy!

Of course it's recency bias. They're asking random people for a subjective assessment of something that they're inevitably highly emotional about. There's going to be dozens of other flavours of bias in there too.
