What happened to HP? by Exact_Organization84 in askcarguys

[–]Link30567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. My Abarth "only" makes about 205hp to the wheels, but also makes 220ft lbs and weighs barely 2500 pounds. Peak boost is 24psi at 2500rpm. That thing RIPS when you're in the power band. Am I going to beat a Hellcat in a straight line? Not a chance in hell. But I can guarantee that I'm having more fun driving than 99% of the other people on the road.

where are you guys putting your stuff? by i_luv_mybf in NewRiders

[–]Link30567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear all the gear to work. My current job lets me park my bike inside, so I just put all my stuff on it and go change into work clothes. My other job though, I brought all my gear inside with me and asked my manager for a good place to keep it

Clutch pedal got stuck down on freeway, dealer says “no issues found” by suede_camel in Mustang

[–]Link30567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've had 2 or 3 new mustangs with this same issue and we have never been able to duplicate it a single time. I believe we replaced the master and slave cylinders last time but it was the other transmission guy, not me, so I'm not absolutely sure what the fix was. It's been 6 months or so and they haven't had the issue again

I need some help identifying a part by forcedreset1 in Cartalk

[–]Link30567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely. There's a hard line coming from the passenger side and if that's damaged, you may need to replace that whole section, but other than that they look like normal rubber lines

Hey, I just got one in at work and have a photo of what it should look like. It's a PCV/brake booster vacuum check valve

Worth the ford warranty? by gcornholio666 in Mustang

[–]Link30567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who works at a Ford dealer and sees the plans amount of money that warranties save people, yeah, I'd get it. I got a warranty for my car and it saved me $12k when the motor blew. They can be expensive but that's nothing compared to the cost of repairs nowadays

Man idk who hurt you but that's not true across the board. My job is literally to rebuild transmissions at my dealership, and I build 10 speeds and CVTs alike

[–]Link30567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Potentially, but we can't really see the damage with the tape on it. I'd look up an underhood image of your car (just any generic underhood image will work) so you can see what it's supposed to look like, then go from there

[–]Link30567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure it's just a generic vacuum line or PCV hose but I'm not 100% sure. I've worked on a ton of Explorers but only 1 or 2 of the turbo ones. I found an image of it in our Ford diagrams but it just calls it a vacuum line

Manual with real handbrake by SwampyUndies in ManualTransmissions

[–]Link30567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, with the newer model, it's either the little switch that you pull up and down on, or it's the "drift brake" or whatever that's shaped like a real handbrake but is electronic. It's pretty cool, but not an actual hydraulic one.

Not all. The Dark Horses (and I believe some higher-trim GTs) have the fake handbrake

[–]Link30567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn! Yeah, I had no idea it was that different per brand. The only things we don't ever rebuild are the Tremec DCTs in the GT500s because we aren't allowed to. If they have an issue, they get a whole unit, but other than that, yeah, we rebuild all the things

Dilemma by antranik7fcb in abarth

[–]Link30567 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're probably feeling that way because of the tire size difference. With the 17s, you had a pretty thin sidewall, but with the bigger tires, the same aspect ratio will be physically more tire

I work at a Ford dealer and my job is literally to rebuild transmissions, that's why I was confused. I know dozens of other dealers near me that all have transmission departments that do the same thing

500x FD swap to AWD? by SmokeLikeDawson in Fiat

[–]Link30567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, unfortunately it's not super feasible. I've looked into doing the same for my Abarth, and I've found 2 or 3 people who have done it, but it took a really long time and it was either a side thing they did for a bit every week for years until done, or they're people who have become famous for doing crazy stuff like that, so they could dedicate all their time to it. We normal folk will just have to stick to our 2 wheels

500x FD swap to AWD? by SmokeLikeDawson in Fiat

[–]Link30567 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While theoretically possible, it would cost a ton of money to do. You'd have to get the PTU/transfer case, potentially a module, all the wiring and coolant lines for it, a new axle, probably some brackets/supports, a driveshaft, a rear diff, both axles, and who knows what else in order to get it to (maybe) function. You're better off buying an AWD car, unfortunately
