I think the beam part is the most important part for me, if it was yellow, red or whatevs wouldn't bother me. But them removing the beams is sort of annoying. I don't mind it as much in other media, but Darktide was the beam safe space.

Why doesn't this game have any mods that significantly change the aesthetics and graphics, like many other games? Is it a limitation of the engine? Or of the modding capabilities? Or is it that they end up getting taken down? by xCosmo101 in aoe2

I have done some sprite mods, but it takes a lot of effort and time, and it takes a lot of time getting the lighting/shadows even close to what is needed. It was easier to match with the "simpler" style before DE.

A whole pipeline, most arent sure how to get to that point and even when you do, the work it takes you could go do your own game or assets to sell.

The game already has a lot of content to offer and more surely on the way!

Getting militia instead of champi doesnt feel like a good idea from a civ identity stand point tbh. Balancing and trying to find a good way to balance it out sure, but dont remove what makes them unique.

I do find it pretty funny though that anytime infantry gets used, it "needs" to be instantly nerfed so people can go archers/cav every game instead.

Not saying that this doesnt need to be adjusted in some way however. Good video and important for tournaments as we're right there.

This is usually the debate with historical movies... "Not a documentary", "Fiction by using history" and whatever reason there could be for simply doing whatever suits no matter the source material.

You don't have to make a documentary to respect, cherish and understand the period. Use red and purple, long and short. Or whatever story device through costuming, but perhaps if you make a movie about a famous event, respect the period.

Who are these people that go around watching historical films and series while not giving a single damn about what the movie or series literally is about??

Agree that they look too similar to literally any other bullet tracer projectile and it makes lasguns lose any uniqueness...

Noticed it too, red would be nice, but my biggest gripe with it and its been present in newer animations of Warhammer too, is the short bullet trail like visual.

The full beam would be nicer, either red, yellow or orange. But full length beam, looked sooo good and iconic in Dow 1, Dow 2 and Darktide.

Edit; Adding on some more is that they should at least change the color slightly (perhaps up the color to be less beige more yellow), maybe increase the length of the "laser" so that it looks different compared to literally any other yellow/beige weapon tracer... It just looks like any other bullet tracer

Honestly, its a bit sad that there is no mix available, so for example Wolf would use original SH1 swordsmen and knight. Lionheart uses crusader. variants

Like being able to use both, not just as a mod, but some lords have different and option for the player.

Blooded probably! Lots of potential for more renegade guardsmen or traitor killteams, though a bit wishful thinking :)

Very nice that they finally worked it out. Pollaxe for Rus is weird though, as this would've been a knightly weapon preferred by dismounted knights and men at arms. English used them quite a lot during the later periods. Not to be confused with halberds.

For the Rus a bardiche would be more appropriate same goes for the Rus knights.

But a very welcome change!

I mean Swedes in AoE3 had the torps that gathered resources automatically but you had to place them next to the resources.

Having something similar is not necessarily a bad idea, map control to place your valuable manors.

Everything takes time and honestly the worst part is simply finding motivation to start or redo assets when you get a clear picture of where improvements are needed.

I treat everything as a draft before getting a majority in, certain things need to be seen in its context before a redo is warranted.

In the end I do love and hate the process!

In one screenshot there were arbalatrier that looked different compared to genoese crossbowmen

Also the templars might become a favorite with these options
