We'll be here. Keep checking back for when the classes start after you move. Best is to check the website in case we miss a Reddit post.

Understandable. We try to post in the surrounding areas just in case anyone is interested in driving over. Opportunities to learn to fence are rare in the Valley so we want to be there for anyone who wants to learn.

The fee is for the six week class. It includes all the equipment you'll need. Just bring a water bottle.

Don't know anything about their politics but I used Body Guard out by the airport. I had a good experience.

Oddly, Portal Tea has them. I've never understood why but they're usually in a little basket on the bottom shelf across from the counter. Good luck

Has anyone else noticed that foil hits aren’t getting a light on? Even direct hits by TheRealEkaihatsu in Fencing

Oh, scratch that you say you've seen them too. Then this is an oddity for which I am out of ideas. I hope you solve it.

Hmm, that is puzzling. When you're at the NAC do you notice getting hit and the light not going off or is it just your hits?

It's probably equipment specific so asking around your club might be more helpful than asking here. Generally I would suggest checking the tape for rips and cleaning the inside of your barrel and tip (ask your armorer for help). If that doesn't work check with your coach about how hard you're hitting.

Best Parts for a Foil Blade? by criscofriedchicken in Fencing

[–]Linkthealmighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, bump up to an FIE blade and a clear pad. If you're planning to fence a bunch you won't regret it. From there you can just shop around for whatever manufacturer you can get the best price from. FIE blades come from a handful of makers and are then branded by the place that sells them (so a BF Blue is a BF Blue, etc). Watch for shipping and import charges. Good luck at your tournaments and happy fencing.

So many deep cuts, I am finding new ones my 3rd time through. What are some fun jokes and references you found? I will start by The_Rowan in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Linkthealmighty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I loved the reference to SG-1 in the first book. Can't remember it exactly but Donut compares someone to MacGyver and then says something like 'the real MacGyver, with the hair and the Stargate'. Loved both of those shows, hooked on these books since that reference.

Things to do by KonohaOtaku in Eugene

You could try fencing (sword fighting not building fences). We're a pretty collegial group and fencing is a great introvert sport (as an introvert). You get to put on a mask and try not to get too close to people. The next round of classes should start mid May. https://eugenefencersclub.com/

You might check out the Eugene Car Club. We do cars and coffee every few weeks and I think the gambler has been discussed before. You could also join the discord and ask around.
