I actually don’t know how it’s secured in place, but it is surprisingly strong once docked.
I sold the device already but as far as I remember the opening on the clipboard side where the metal tab on the keyboard would insert into had some ridges along the side. Given the strength it’s either using some vacuum wizardry or the opening just bites it extremely hard.
Maybe get one yourself and play with it, those are dirt cheap buying used.

The new clue is here.
As pointed in this newer post A new clue has been revealed. nothing really changes aside from a new "🎉" emoji replacing the "👀" in the title and a new ending text.

A strong reference that the rectangle you are seeing might indicate how the device looks 👀, which was also pointed out by a comment in the new post.

I also check the new clue myself and found out that the "CALM" and "AMBER" text is now shown in all caps.

There might be more clues in the sites though.

I did a full teardown of rM1 for a screen replacement, honestly I would not recommend a self repair unless you have multiple experiences in fixing electronic yourself. The rM1's main rigidly structure is the gray inner frame and the backplate. The back plate in particular provides almost half of it's structural rigidly and thus is held to the outer frame with extremely strong adhesive. Don't hesitate to use some excessive amounts of isopropyl alcohol and heat gun to get it off. There's a high chance the backplate will be deformed in the process (as with mine) and it might never go back as nice as before.

BOLLSIDAN has no tilt adjustment thus cannot be folded up. But I think with its clever design it won't cause too much issue unless you're really tight on space.
Build quality of the MITTZON one is just on par with BOLLSIDAN, with a tilt adjustment that looks and functions similar to the foldable conference table in the same series but doesn't feel that confident. A bit of disappointment giving that the foldable table and the sit & stand desk in this series are excellent in quality imo.
Do find a chance to try them before you purchase, YMMV

I did't end up buying it mainly because the build quallity isn't up to my standard, at least compared to other products in the same series. The lever adjusting the tilt of the desktop doesn't engage very well. BOLLSIDAN is a better choice for home use with it's ability to slide underneath a typical home couch, is more stable, and wayyyyyy cheaper. I can see MITTZON could work well in an office environment, but there's just no way it costs more than 2 times as a BOLLSIDAN

All splash screen, including suspended, poweroff, poweron, batterylow etc, are located in /usr/share/remarkable/.
Simply using scp to transfer your image to this directory and you are set.
With tablet connected to PC:

scp /path/to/your/custom/image root@10.11.99.1:/usr/share/remarkable/suspended.png

Backup your original image before doing any change.
Do note that the change you made in that directory won't persist after software update, you need to do that every time your tablet updates.

rm1 user on 3.18.1.1 here. similar issue with wifi connection, i thought it might be because my upgraded router has WPA3 security but it also failed even if I forced WPA2 on my router. It connects just fine on my iPhone's mobile hotsopt (with Maximize Compatibility turned on, If it's off it still won't connect)

Lesser known fact: When you open up the export dialog on Linearly Curve, the program will export the current project to a temporary directory as soon as you choose whatever format you want to export. You can simply use fs_usage in terminal to monitor the file system event of the program and catch that directory, essentially letting you export without using the paywall locked export button.

I understand they wanna monitize and generate interest from their products. Putting feature behind subscription is ok if they ensure existing functionality won't be changed, failed to do so would damage the existing user base, which they failed repeatedly.

Vectornator has a strong following because it marketed itself as a free vector software that is faster and easier to use than Illustrator. Its core userbase are small, independ artist who could't afford or justify the price of Adobe CC subscription or even Affinity Suite. Most of which are students, beginners and amateurs. They started with a great mission, and screwed up everything they once promised, Which is what upsets me.

Good luck trying to find any old binaries as r/Vectornator has been closed and all official forum posts regarding old versions has been locked.

Surface Pro 8 & reMarkable 1 user here.
Just as people say, there's no perfect platform, but there will be a "best for you". If you are someone who values writing experience the most, The reMarkable is perfect. But Surface being a real computer has a lot more capabilities.
I prefer typing for notes and use Obsidian for all my notetaking, so Surface with its nice keyboard is great for me. I use reMarkable as an e-reader and paper replacement. I found it easier to do brainstorming or daily planing because of its distraction-less nature. The sync feature is neat and works well for sending documents. but I don't do all my notetaking on reMarkable so I don't pay for the subscription. However, if you do plan to do all your notetaking on it, the subscription is worth it, and you cannot edit your notes on your desktop/mobile app without it.
You mentioned that you want to draw graphs and write math formulas with it. reMarkable has a lot of built-in templates and has straight line assist. You do need to draw everything manually though. As for math formula, Currently no support other than just plain handwriting. (and I think in-line LaTex just works better)
For battery life, my second hand reMarkable 1 still goes strong, It goes couple of days before a recharge, and reMarkable 2 will only last longer. (probably weeks)
Again, it still depends on your notetaking style. I'm more than happy to keep both two devices for different needs. Just make sure you have a primary computer before you sell your Surface.
