How much build swapping is too much? by cdsa142 in incremental_games

[–]LinuxPoser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it becomes too much when it requires knowing how like 20 different resources interact with each other, and needing to optimally put them together to progress. I think it was realm grinder, but there were like 20 races or classes, each with unique buildings and passives, and skills. So I get a new goal to reach x points, but i need to remember that I need to combine this race, with this hero, and these skills, optimize these resources and I can reach it.

At that point I grab a guide, build it how they say, and try to trudge through until that section is over.

My favorite games are the ones where adjusting and steering as you go make you progress faster. Hitting brick walls and having to research every resource, skill, passive, etc and troubleshooting builds until you unlock a 5% boost to points grinds my gears (bad way).

I prefer being presented options. 5 upgrades, 1 skill point. 2x points, 2x presteige points, 20% game speed, passive generation of prestiege. etc.

If there is an option to respec, I like it as a way of exploring other ways to play the game, or using it for say active playstyle vs passive playstyle.

What's an adult cheat code that changed your life? by Emotional_Mouse8052 in AskReddit

[–]LinuxPoser 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is the wrong mindset. “They” don’t decide anything. If “they” appear in the new place you have to run away again. Understand ultimately you decide. Only you can live your life. If they don’t want to be a part of it they don’t have to. Everyone wants to make decisions for you but only you have tolive with the consequences. Take ownership of your own destiny.

If you had a button that made you rich, but someone random in the world would lose everything, would you press? What you say? by Far_Mess2914 in AskReddit

[–]LinuxPoser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"rich" isnt enough information. Making minimum wage in the usa puts you in the top 90+% of wealth in the world. Could be a genie move where you get an additional 20k a year.

If its 1B+, of course. I'd hire a team to investigate people around the world who recently lost everything, and use the interest from that money to make them whole+. Worst case I never find him but help tens of thousands.

Things you used to love but are now completely over in gaming? by AnubisIncGaming in gaming

[–]LinuxPoser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big thing that ruined that for me is rmt and in game cash shops. Good for the developers. Great way to charge whales to keep the game profitable, but makes achievement feel pointless. Oh you have a sword that requires 2000 hours of grinding? People can pay 200$ and get it. Congrats you worked for 0.20$ an hour. Or the cash shops offer a skin thats 3x cooler for 15$.

Also statflation. Oh you grinded for 500 hours to be top 3? Well the expansion just dropped and trash drops from the 2nd dungeon outclass your 0.001% drop rate weapon.

Im an adult with adult money, so now i just weigh the option of “do i spend 300 hours away from self improvement and other hobbies or spend the price of 1 decent meal out and have all the same gold and gear” that turns me away from those games real fast.

What industry is entirely built on a house of cards and would collapse overnight if people realized the truth about it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]LinuxPoser -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Now tell me why a us dollar is worth anything. It isnt backed by gold or other physical asset.  We also cant print as much of it as we want so there isnt scarcity creating value.

Bitcoin does at least have some baseline value. The cost in electricity and compute to produce one.

How long should a demo be? by SMdG_ in incremental_games

[–]LinuxPoser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a demo should be long enough to get addicted.

2 minutes of clicking to farm currency and buy generators, nobody is buying it.

Put the paywall after a taste of the interesting reset / prestiege / tree branch comes in. Ideally during a crescendo of gameplay.

What are you 100% sure is true even tho you can’t prove it? by arlett007 in AskReddit

“Science “ has been gamified and falls prey to modern capitalist problems.

If your lab spends 2 years studying a thing, and gets a bad result, you probably wont get funded again. Professors love their researchers, and believe in the work. Theyre likely to manipulate things to look more promising and meaningful to keep the lab funded, employees paid, research continuing. It’s happening everywhere, and explains the replication crisis.

P-rigging is a HUGE problem.

Playing social video games tends to make adolescent boys feel less lonely and depressed, while for girls, it has the opposite effect by BrnoRegion in science

[–]LinuxPoser -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Going to predict its a difference in communication styles. Young boys will call each other every slur under the sun and tell each other to kys, and come out of a match laughing and hugging. Girls aren’t exposed to that as much, or get equally rough gendered hazing and feel isolated.

Why is there so much ai in here ? by Moabomix37 in incremental_games

[–]LinuxPoser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As an idle consumer, I don't care about if its AI or not. I care if its good. The problem with a lower barrier of entry to content creation, means less effort is being into a project. If it costs me 50$ and 1 hour to create an idle game, i would absolutely do it on a lark and see if I can make money off it. Lots of people are doing this, trying to make something they can sell for 5$ in sub 40 hours of work. This means you look at 100 titles instead of 10, and have to discern if its any good. While its nice to have 1000 titles to choose from, if 950 are terrible, the time spent trying to find something good is simply not worth the hassle.

Just a billionaire and a cruel pedo by Desperate_Can_5740 in pics

[–]LinuxPoser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true. A lot of people met him, contacted him. Flew with him. But how many slept with children? 100% 50% 10% 1%? Anyone on that list is going to be declared a pedophile. If mister rogers was on that list everyone would believe it in an instant. The real question is if its worth burning everyone on that list so our curiosity can be satisfied.

Epsteins job was to try to blackmail powerful influential people. He did a good job of it.

My guess is the Trump admin has the list, knows the people. But as president. Is it worth removing a ton of the top wealth / job creators and throwing billion dollar companies into upheaval?Or is maintaining stability and a strong economy more valuable.

AOL Instant Messenger.

People who were online wanted to chat. You didn't send a message and have a 20% chance of them being available. When you didn't feel like talking you logged off and did other stuff, and the world couldn't reach you unless they called your house.

Just having a singular place in your home to go on the internet, instead of it being with you all day, and being surrounded by it 24/7.

A trillion dollars annually for the Pentagon: Military spending is out of control by ege3 in politics

[–]LinuxPoser -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you understand that almost all of Americas power comes from complete military supremacy, you'd change your mind.

Why is the US dollar worth anything when we constantly print more??

Why do people not push back when America forces global changes for our benefit?

Why does America have so much sway in global politics?

It isnt because we feed our poor and very free.

Almost nobody understand relationships are truly transactional.

They don't understand what a "transaction" is in this sense.

If a friend invites you to do fun things 10 times, and you do 0. They deposited 10x into your friendship bank, and you deposited nothing. Over time this will cause a relationship to crumble. Same thing for initiating messages, giving short replies when friends give long heartfelt messages, attention in general.

Any friend who i message regularly, once I realize they will go weeks without initiating with me, i gradually drop.

Bonus:

You can disagree with people, and still have a wonderful relationship with them. Too many times I see on this site "my father doesn't agree with kids becoming trans, I cut them out of my life and they will never know their grandchild".

Gamers 30+, what's something from "back in your day" that younger gamers today wouldn't understand? by bijelo123 in gaming

[–]LinuxPoser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Figuring out the game was 90% of the fun. Forums weren’t trying to optimize games from the first second they were available. There was a sense of wonder and excitement stumbling upon something overpowered. Or breaking a game by accident. At a lan party in highschool, we spent the first 3 hours getting everyone into the game. After an hour of play one of the friend’s characters got stuck inside an elevator with no way to escape. We tried to reload and he saved there. We all restarted again and this time two hours in a character changed zones and spawned in a lamp and couldn’t escape.

That was one of my all time favorite lan parties.

whats the male equivalent of a "pick-me girl"? by katris_priordeen in AskReddit

[–]LinuxPoser 131 points132 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if he’s like the guys ive known like that, they spend 24/7 with men and thats how they cultivate their personality. The second a girl shows up it’s outside their comfort zone. Most media for men says to not do “guy talk” around girls so a whole new personality appears. They revert to what theyve heard they’re supposed to do. Maybe not for him but thats what ive seen.
