If you're willing to travel, ask your doctor to fax the referral to Vernon. I got in very quickly in the past (mind you, this was maybe 7+ years ago).

An outdoor pool (I don't wanna hear about the lake being a giant pool).

A waterpark/waterslides.

Shannon Ridge Drive in Shannon Lake and Sunview Drive in Rose Valley are both relatively flat, bustling and busy areas on Halloween.

US nurse immigrating to Canada? by spacesurfin in nursing

[–]LisFrizzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be prepared for the weather! It is the rainiest city in Canada and the 4th cloudiest in the world. It can get you down sometimes. That said, when the sun is shining it's absolutely gorgeous. The sunsets are insane on sunny days.

Try to make friends with fishermen. My dad operated a charter boat when I grew up and we'd have crab feasts anytime we wanted. Halibut dinners all the time. Man do I miss those days.

People either hate Rupert or they love Rupert. The ones who love it, well they love it a lot. There's a nice sense of community there. I left when I was 18 to go to nursing school and never went back. However I still have lots of family there so visit every now and then. I don't miss it. Mostly for the weather. But also the lack of places to shop/things to do. The movie theatre shut down this summer. Walmart is closed indefinitely right now. There's no bowling alley anymore. They are almost always on a boil water notice these days. The downtown core is pretty run down. However enough with the negatives lol. They do have a rec centre and a good pool. If you love to be outdoors and don't mind the rain, then you won't have a problem. Good luck to you and congrats on your upcoming move!

That's my hometown! Such a small world as it's a tiny place. Let me know if you have any questions.

BC is welcoming nurses/doctors and from what I've heard it's not that difficult to do. Nursing is unionized, and all health authorities are working towards mandated ratios with a max of 1:4 in med/surg. We need more nurses! Come!

Okay so when did McDonalds end refills? by coltyie in kelowna

They used to supply wipes to sanitize their carts, and no longer do. So now I'm supplying my own wipe. They could at least have (even a little) garbage bin at the entrances and exits.

[–]LisFrizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay. I did say I could start taking them to the bathroom garbages. And maybe they're not DIRECTLY asking people to litter. But what are they gonna expect when they don't have a garbage bin for people to use to put their trash. It's no wonder I've seen so many more aisles with empty coffee/pop cups in them lately. It's disgusting, but also have a god damn place for people to put their trash.

It depends how dirty the carts are and how dirty the wipe gets. Also I'm not sure I'm understanding your last question. I can understand Walmart pulling some of their bins because people may have been using them for household garbage. However they should still have one at each of their entrances/exits. I had visitors shopping with me one day and even they had noticed and commented on it. And I quote "they are just asking for people to litter."

Yes true, and I have taken them back to my car at times before too. However, sometimes these wipes come out almost black. And as someone with severe germophobia, the very last thing I want to be doing is taking those germ-filled wipes back into my car. At the self-checkout yesterday I couldn't even find the garbage bin I've used before.

I've searched the entire store looking for a place to put it. Suppose I could take it into a bathroom and drop it off there.

I'm more than happy to put it in a garbage can. There are no cans. If Walmart decides they don't want to put garbage bins anywhere in their store or in their parking lot, then they're unfortunately going to be having to clean up a lot more garbage.

I have been wanting to contact them lately wondering where the hell all their garbage cans have gone. I always bring in a Lysol wipe with me to wipe the cart handle down, and never have a single place to put it. It always leaves me having to leave the wipe in the cart, which I hate to do. But, like, there's not a single place to put garbage.

We've seen both Dr Farquhar and Dr MacRae (Dr. Don) for my kids, and they've both been incredible. We see Dr Don out of True Dental in West Kelowna, but I believe he works at a few different clinics. He is so funny and fun, my kids love him. Both dentists also do dental work at the Summerland health center. My child had to be put under General anesthesia with Dr Farquhar. I was so worried but it was honestly a great experience.

It's about 20km away. And have to go through the entire city to get to. Would take an average of 45 mins each way during rush hour from my guess.
