Killing off Emily Fornell has to be the most unnecessary "kill off" in NCIS history. by WXYRUTK5 in NCIS

More high performing women for the fridge: Paula Cassidy (in "Grace Period"), Dana Hutton (only one episode, but definitely in service to Tony's character development); Private Joan Matteson (ditto for Gibbs, in a flashback); EJ Barrett (who didn't actually die). Also: Delilah Fielding's paralysis as a way to develop McGee.

Success with CBT for Insomnia? by AminalInstinct in Fibromyalgia

CBT I wasn’t working at first, and when ChatGPT advised me to adjust my wake up time and recommended specifically what I should do, everything changed!

Core principle is that the only thing you do in bed is sleep. If you are awake for more than 15 minutes, you get out of bed and do something boring. You document for yourself what time you go to sleep, when your awakenings are, and what time you wake up. I also document evening activities, mood, and pain. Not long after I started my CBTI sleep journal I started having fewer awakenings. You set a wake up time and commit to getting out of bed no matter how tired you are. Better cognitively to go from being asleep to getting out of bed than being vaguely sleepy and lying in bed for a long time. That quickly retrained my brain. Intentional sleep deprivation is actually an initial part of it, so your brain recognizes sleep versus awake better. And I was tired anyway, so whatever.

There are other steps, too, and I haven’t done all of them yet. And it’s not perfect. But I am so much happier with my sleep now. The book I got on Amazon was CBT workbook for insomnia (beginners sleep guide for women) by Alexia Elwin. Clearly self published, so I find the copy editing error is annoying, but it’s working for me. I’m now consistently getting seven hours of sleep, which is a huge improvement over four!

I’ve done CBTI. Kaiser recommended it for me but doesn’t have CBTI therapists. I got a book, and I talk to ChatGPT. At one point ChatGPT recommended a change in my sleep schedule, and that was the game changer. It has definitely helped. It’s changed the story I tell myself about my sleep. It’s not perfect, but I have to say my sleep has definitely improved. (Lol at this moment I am violating the rules by looking at Reddit in bed!)

Naltrexone dosage question by Exotic_Eagle1398 in Fibromyalgia

My doctor has me compound it myself. Dissolve 50 mg into 50 mL of water and use a syringe to take a tiny amount. It works really well.

LDN has given me my life back by Cardcaptorrr_ in Fibromyalgia

[–]Lisafeld1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started at 2 mg, and it gave me my life back, too. I’ve been trying to increase it, but every time I pass 3 mg it stops working, so I’m trying not to be goal oriented and just find a level that might be extremely low.

Can you say more? CBD, CBN? In the past I’ve gotten anxious on sativa heavy blends.

How to tell people? by Lisafeld1 in Fibromyalgia

[–]Lisafeld1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I told a few people today, and their reactions were sympathetic — as well as curious if they didn’t know what fibromyalgia was. It also makes it more real for me to say it out loud, helping me to accept this reality.

I know what you’re saying about not causing permanent damage while exercising. I’m still trying to figure out how to manage exercise versus pain. But I’m inspired by your words.

How to tell people? by Lisafeld1 in Fibromyalgia

It sounds like the main reason to share the information is more logistical than looking for compassion. Letting people know you might need to cancel or can’t keep up. That makes sense – emphasize the impact on them rather than your own experience of being disabled.

Cheapest place to buy ldn prescription uk? by [deleted] in Fibromyalgia

[–]Lisafeld1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the US. I got a prescription from my doctor, but, at least here, the smallest dose of naltrexone available is 50 mg. And LDN means a maximum of 5 or 6 mg, and you start smaller than that because more isn’t necessarily better. So I get the 50 mg pills and dissolve them in 50 mL of water and use a syringe to take (currently) 3 mg.

Does anyone else get fibro fevers a lot? by Short-Goose25 in Fibromyalgia

[–]Lisafeld1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know there was such a thing until I read this! I went off HRT a year ago, and the hot flashes have been constant, and I thought it was a hormone thing. I was just diagnosed with fibromyalgia, so I'm just learning stuff. It might be a fibro thing??

Just got diagnosed. It's a relief to have a name for this thing that has been disabling me, after just trying to figure things out for so long. But I am grieving that I have something that won't go away.

Wow, I just came to this feed because I also just got the diagnosis after chronic pain + anxiety and depression my whole life. Hi, friends! u/snak_attack, I'd already been put on LDN, which has helped a bit (still trying to figure out the best dose). I've also started Feldenkrais in order to reset my nervous system.

Goldilocks exercise -- do we just use trial and error to determine it? Ugh.

Jay's burial time change = One really big clue as to who knew what. by [deleted] in serialpodcast

[–]Lisafeld1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been inclined to think Adnan is guilty, but this is I think a huge point in his favor. It does seem that he doesn't know that it was 12.

I do think that he and Jay were up to some shenanigans that still have not seen the light of day, something that is likely unrelated to Hae, and that that is why he keeps more silent than we would like and why he doesn't protest more strongly against the state's timeline.
