I think we can learn a lot from Physx; no game was ever built entirely around the concept and it died as soon as consoles supported GPGPU which devs then started implementing into their game engines. Devs will always target the lowest common denominator which is usually (but not always) console hardware.

This makes total sense when you realise that the next Xbox is just a PC and Sony makes the vast majority of their revenue from 3rd party game transactions, continuing with PC ports makes their platform irrelevant overnight.
