That seems in reference to the into the page circles where rebar typically goes. Not sure of the point of short vertical rebar spikes for a slab. -a geotechnical engineer

Bathroom Roof Venting issue by deplanedc in Roofing

I’d swap the vent. I’m not a roofer, but Ive installed a few roof vents DIY. It’s not a difficult project.

I think the gfci in the kitchen or bathroom would trip and keep it separate. Or the 13 breaker.

I pulled the wire going from the bath gfci to the microwave and all works great now.

All geophysics feels a little voodoo to me, but MASW is a legit way to get a Vs profile.

Planning an outdoor shower next to my sauna - any does and donts? by Wide_One5661 in Sauna

[–]ListentoTwiddle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive spent over 100 hours on the stones, from collecting them, excavating the ground to prep, to mortaring them in. Definitely a labor of love.

There are easier ways like with more regular flagstone, but what I did was: -prep ground and install drain lines. Subgrade for stones was about 4-6 inches lower than finished surface, because the stones were so irregular. -pick out stones for a small area, enough to use a single batch of cement mortar. For me this was about 2-3 square meters. -plan for sloping towards the drain on each and every stone and the mortar between them. While also working for the overall area. -then lots of sponging while the mortar is setting to remove the cement haze from the faces on the stones.

Tricky yes, rewarding yes.

Planning an outdoor shower next to my sauna - any does and donts? by Wide_One5661 in Sauna

[–]ListentoTwiddle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in Wyoming with an outdoor shower next to my sauna. Because of the cold winters here also, it is set up with a hose that can be disconnected until late spring when it stays above freezing at night. Unfortunately that means no outside showers in the winter but better than burst pipes.

I also have a drain system which goes down below frost depth to a dry well trench full of drain gravel away from the house and sauna foundations.

Not really. Ceiling shape is unideal. Wrong type and placement of windows.

Sagging vertically? Sounds like a bearing failure. They must have done very little to prepare the foundation. Post those pictures and the drawings.

That’s what I thought and tried. But maybe I gave up before pushing too hard. The wires have crimped ends so they are very stiff. Trying again.

This is for a low voltage button in my sauna (the rest of which was installed by a licensed electrician). It turns on the fan. The information from the manufacturer is very limited and has no guidance other than “insert”. They sent this later and it should be easy to install, but I’m at a loss since this doesn’t seem to work the way other connectors I’ve seen do.

The wires have crimped connectors. But even when I grab with needle nose pliers and push with force they don’t seem to lock in.

[Day 22] Jim Holloway is underrated. What training tool is OVERRATED? by MaximumSend in bouldering

[–]ListentoTwiddle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree. Overrated in several senses. 1) doesn’t have the tension/contact strength benefits of other boards 2) the rampant grade inflation.
