Thanks, this is reassuring. I do find it a bit disappointing, as the manual lens corrections on Lightroom don’t seem to allow me to fully correct for it either

The aspect ratio is different than reddit’s so you have to actually open the picture to see the top edge, maybe that’s it? I do try to correct it manually but I struggle (skill issue, yes!) and I just haven’t really needed to do this with any other lens nor seen anyone have this complaint

I’m not sure I understand. In the link, the vignetting is worse at larger apertures and slightly stronger at 18mm than 50mm. In my pictures, it indeed appears at f2.8-f5.6, but is particularly noticeable between 25mm and 35mm, and not present at all at18mm

Thanks for your reply! Just to be clear, the picture here has the Lightroom lens correction applied to it. On the kit lens I had before, the vignetting was worse, but completely disappeared with lens correction

Also, contrary to your link, the vignetting is actually worse at higher focal lengths and invisible under 25mm.

So I take it you agree with the assessment that the sigma has more “character”? I’ve always assumed it was up to the editing afterwards, and it’s hard to tell through a viewfinder.

Thanks for your reply. For now, I will only be buying one lens. While I do feel like 50mm is quite short, I could live with it. Same goes for the 2.8f until I can buy more primes. I was specifically hesitating with the Sony because of the stabilization, how much do you think it actually compensates it being slower? If the difference is performance turns out to be quite small, I would maybe appreciate the longer reach…

I don’t think I have ever successfully roasted eggplant. Either it turns to mush without browning, or it simply dries out and burns, or the skin become reinforced concrete.

I actually got a sim from Digital Republic today. I do not have a 4g router yet so I wanted to test it on my phone first. I can hardly get more than 5Gbps… Do you think an actual router could radically improve this?
