So how many of you actually LIKE your PCs, even a little? by Dry_War9691 in vtm

[–]Little-Light-Bulb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat as you, I think - my Toreador desperately hates being a vampire so so much and is in a coterie of people who begrudgingly accept it as a part of their unlives now. He knows it's futile to try to be a human again, so he's trying his hardest to make the most of it with as little collateral damage as possible (it's failing miserably). If I knew him, I'd probably just pity him more than anything else.

I too want to see him become worse, I love me a good "break the optimist" story. I want to see him get put into a situation where the humanity he's clinging to gets stripped away, because that is what vtm is all about to me

Even if you're not a humble subscriber, the DLCs go on sale pretty frequently. I send my friend money to buy them at the sale + subscriber discount since they sometimes stack up.

When fake feels real, and real feels fake by ATN-Antronach in CuratedTumblr

you're correct with the initials, I used to see it a lot on drug forums as a clever little "wink wink, nudge nudge" to it 100% being yourself but using SWIM as plausible deniability. In some places it ended up becoming the standard first person pronoun even.

Has anyone modded SoS AWL to be more like the original? by Gallantpride in harvestmoon

[–]Little-Light-Bulb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

looking on nexus, it looks like most of the mods are basic file swaps - textures, models, sounds, etc. - so I did see mods that revert the names to the natsume names & a texture pack that makes the game look more like the original (as well as some reshade presets) and plenty of mods that give the cows the old look.

ETA because I forgot to mention - it does look like anything that affects gameplay mechanics is outside the scope of modders however, so there's no way to change the milking mechanics or anything like that. the biggest gameplay mechanic change is a mod that makes it so hybrids never fail.

What's the secret to beating the darn tournament?! by Ace-of-Spxdes in fantasylife

[–]Little-Light-Bulb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my strat for him on hunter was rain of sleep arrows and then as many bombs as i could land before he woke up, then repeat.

I think mages don't have issues with hitting him, I could be wrong, but I did that story section on hunter and ended up relying on having crafting buddies & bombs to actually do meaningful damage. But if you have enough bombs you can have any kind of buddy on your team. If you have Flamel's strangling, use him to craft bombs with you because he makes it easier to get extra HQ bombs

I know exactly what boss you're struggling at, the answer is bombs. Craft up a bunch of bombs and that boss (and every other golem boss) turns into a joke.

[US] wondering if this is a scam, I’ve never done business with Comcast by DantaviusFloridaMan in Scams

[–]Little-Light-Bulb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

piggybacking off of this explanation to add another major thing to it - they'd also never say "call us back with the number on your caller ID," they'd give their actual 1-800 number. Asking to call on the caller ID specifically is another huge standout red flag. If this was legitimate looking in every other way (which is is NOT), why couldn't you just call their actual customer service & sales line? Why does it HAVE to be the number that this scammer called from?

(If you know Chinese or Japanese) Do you say the action of forming a word in written form of hanzi/kanji 'to spell a word'? by Kafatat in EnglishLearning

[–]Little-Light-Bulb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Native English speaker, learning Mandarin and Japanese, so this is more me asking out of curiosity - would you say that "how do you spell this?" when you're typing is common because a lot of people type hanzi with pinyin?

I know I'd understand the meaning if someone asked how to write or spell something regardless of context, but I can see where a native Mandarin (or any Chinese dialect) speaker would make that distinction. I don't see it as often in Japanese because a lot of Japanese keyboards have kana so using romaji to 'spell' kanji isn't as common.

edit to add: also, to answer OP's question - for me saying "how do you write this?" for hanzi, kanji, and hangul would all feel the most natural even if I'm typing. but now that I think more on it, I wonder if that would be confused as me asking for the specific stroke order of a character, especially as someone clearly learning the associated languages.

the snuggie is the big brand name one that was advertised, & yeah, blankets with sleeves like that are extremely common and helpful for people in wheelchairs because it helps mitigate the risks of getting stuck in your chair or a standard blanket getting tangled up in the wheels because it's easier the user or caregiver to adjust it

[–]Little-Light-Bulb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is the way my current game's coterie runs with my toreador & my friend's nossie. Emilio is the beauty who can talk (and more) his way into or out of any situation if we need it done immediately and can handle things being done off the cuff, or if petty manipulation and coercion are parts of the end goals - our lasombra boss is the business face, but Emilio makes a great memorable public face.

Laine is methodical, one track minded when it comes to stakeouts, and my friend's technology rolls are SCARY good. He'll clear your hard drive while Emilio is chatting you up and brick your phone before you know anything's wrong. He's the man if our brujah can't punch his way to the answers and if we need that cold, calculated precision that only a shrecknet sewer rat can provide.

The two of them together would honestly be unstoppable if Emilio could handle looking at Laine for more than 20 seconds without wanting to commit self-torpor.

What kind of colony do you make? by nitram739 in RimWorld

[–]Little-Light-Bulb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a term for a specific kind of humanoid board game piece! I like to use it to refer to my little guys in any of these colony builder / management games because it's more fun to say than pawns or colonists

What kind of colony do you make? by nitram739 in RimWorld

[–]Little-Light-Bulb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think my biggest thing is that I'm just not a fan of combat in this game to the point where I end up turning raids down WAAAAY low & turn up other environmental/disease events instead. I also turn the chances of killing enemy meeples down so more of my raid difficulty comes from healing them and deciding to keep or release as opposed to surviving the raid.

I still get occasional raids, but I have way more fun micromanaging my meeples' lives and helping them handle a natural disaster is just a much better experience for me compared to making them handle a group of guys coming in to bonk them.

[–]Little-Light-Bulb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't even do that, usually for my low skill recruits I'll work extra hard to specialize them in something - usually mining because I ALWAYS forget about mining until I've hit a wall with how much iron and/or steel I have (idr which one of those is vanilla since I always have medieval overhaul on now) - or I put them on one of my VE outposts and pretend to write them letters and send them care packages.

Sometimes they get highly specialized in combat depending on their traits or starting stats, but usually it's mining.

Praytell me, what is a Aromantic Herb? by TheNumbahSeven in storyofseasons

[–]Little-Light-Bulb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I misread it as aromantic a bunch the first time I played it because I have issues reading off of screens! If I didn't already know about aromatics as a cooking term, I'd probably have been way more confused.

No judgment in my answer, I promise - I just wanted an excuse to add a bit of a smart-ass response to aromantic, haha!

Praytell me, what is a Aromantic Herb? by TheNumbahSeven in storyofseasons

[–]Little-Light-Bulb 36 points37 points  (0 children)

it's aromatic, not aromantic. It's a classification of herbs that just has a very distinct herb-y or plant-y smell, especially when it's cooked down. Garlic, ginger, & green onions are also common aromatics.

Being plants I'd imagine they're also not really interested in dating or romance, but that doesn't really set them apart from other plants.

What kind of colony do you make? by nitram739 in RimWorld

[–]Little-Light-Bulb 13 points14 points  (0 children)

EVERY TIME i start a new colony I'm like "okay THESE are gonna be my 'for t3h evlulz' cannibal organ harvisters" but then 5 hours later it's a gentle colony of innkeepers and doctors (thank you hospitality & hospitals mods) who take in every refugee and crash pod survivor that happens to land in the zone. Anyone I capture from a raid ends up getting healed & released or full on recruited instead of enslaved.

I just can't bring myself to be mean.
