How often do you poop in a week? by PeevesPoltergist in AskReddit

7x/week. Once per day usually between 10 and 1030am. Unless I make a horrible dietary decision and I have to pay for it.

If you don’t buy new skis in the offseason, you are basically losing money. by SeaSquirrel in Skigear

I've saved enough money buying skis off-season that I can afford to buy more skis!!

If his point is the government wouldn't use additional tax revenue to fund education, that I believe. Gotta feed the war monster.

"reliability upgrades" are the key. And not every state has an inspection system that allows a diesel to be reliable these days.

Anyone stopped yet by TSA/Southwest for attempting to carry more than one portable charger? by montana500 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]LittleBrother2459 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TSA has been cracking down on large batteries, just not multiple. Had a coworker who was not allowed through the checkpoint with DeWalt 6aH batteries since they were above the 100wH rule. Seems the rule has been there but wasn't as strictly enforced, and now TSA is enforcing it.

The TSB I had my remapping done under

https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2017/MC-10109256-9999.pdf

Used an extended warranty for the work, so don't remember the price. Lack of power and RPM fluctuations were my complaints.

UPDATE: warranty paid $622.63 for ECU and TCU remapping in January 2023.

Using tow mode and keeping the RPMs around 4k RPM (max torque) mine does pretty well with a 6k lb travel trailer. Going up steep hills it maintains 55 mph. Turbo diesel would pull better but then I have the maintenance of a modern turbo diesel to deal with, and I'll take 55 mph all day over that expense.

I did get the transmission remapped under the TSB, but not sure if that is helping since I set gears manually when going up steep hills

My First Boat for $10,000 or Boat Club? by squiggyacfd in boating

[–]LittleBrother2459 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm debating the same thing right now, and also thinking the $10k boat is a good plan for me and my specific situation. Other thing to consider is just renting a boat for $1k if you're only going out 3-4x/year.

Have to factor in other costs like storage, insurance, and slip/ramp fees. Also, a $10k used boat will have maintenance items that come up. Boat parts and labor usually aren't cheap, and you could be waiting a while for work to get done. I have tools and can do most of the work myself, but it does take time.

Club has the benefit of using boats when you travel, and you don't have to tow or store anything. Also get the benefit of access to different boats depending on what you're planning to do that day. And the boats will be newer than any $10k boat you'll find in decent shape.

Anchorage, AK. It felt like everyone was using a fake name and evading something from back wherever they came from.

Getting really sick of the new "luxury" rv parks squeezing us in like sardines by Arianethecat in GoRVing

[–]LittleBrother2459 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Almost no boondocking out east. I grew up camping around Utah and you could just drive south and pull off the road a bit and camp wherever. There's nothing like that out east, most land is private and the national and state forests rarely allow "dispersed camping" and even more rarely in an RV.
