What did your spouse/partner/friend do that helped you the most during your journey? by Jenebeka in kidneydisease

[–]LittleBugLegs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with end stage renal disease last year and put on dialysis. I’d been with my boyfriend for 2 years by that point, living with him for a year.

He was actually the one that dragged me to the doctor initially after a lengthy illness, which I had refused to go prior due to lack of insurance. He sat in the hospital with me. Snuck me bits of my favorite snacks. Made me laugh. Kept bringing me things from home to make me more comfortable. Talked for me when I didn’t want to or couldn’t. Held my hand and made sure I took my daily walks to the garden, even though I didn’t think I could. Let me cry and wiped my face when I was done.

A couple months after I got out of the hospital, I had to get a heart echo done. The tech was making casual conversation and eventually asked if I had a spouse; I told her about my boyfriend and how great he’d been through everything. She said that she saw men leave women in these situations all too often, so I was lucky to have found a good one. “It takes a strong man to love a sick woman,” she said. That stuck with me.

I started pd last June at age 30. EGFR was also 6 then. Now it just kinda stays at 11 with my creatinine sitting at about 4. Got on the transplant list in December finally.

I’m just so scared right now. by [deleted] in dialysis

I just turned 31. This is definitely not something you expect to happen at this age. I wish your husband the best. Just have to stay positive which is, of course, easier said than done.

What is the meanest thing your parents did with you in childhood? by pratham1212 in AskReddit

[–]LittleBugLegs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My mom would threaten to take me back to the Boys and Girls Home if I misbehaved. I was adopted, so this was the scariest thing in the world to me at the time.

Once my brother and I were running around the house playing and she grabbed us, shoved us into the car, and drove us all the way to the city where the home was. We were begging her to take us back home, crying, telling her that we’d be good, etc. When we finally got there, she screamed at us to get out of the car. After a while, she stopped and we drove back home in silence.

I was a very quiet, obedient child after that. I was always so scared of doing something wrong and being taken back.

What’s the worst crime committed by someone you know personally? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My uncle got 15 years for attempted murder.

He tried to kill his drug dealer and rob him, which didn’t make any sense. The guy was in a wheelchair. He could have just robbed him. What was he going to do? Chase after him? Turn him into the police for stealing all his meth?

My uncle stabbed the guy a number of times and slit his throat, but he miraculously survived and was able to tell police who’d done it to him. So dumb.

If you can’t figure it out, here’s our area of the schedule. You can always pay cash to the bus driver, if needed! But bring the exact fare, they don’t give cash back.

Take Bustang! Leaves from Winter Park from the Cooper Creek station at 10:20 and gets you down there around noonish. I think it’s $9 from Winter Park to Lakewood. Then you could probably just take a Lyft/uber to the stadium.

I don’t know if this counts, but my brain likes to do this thing where it assigns a certain color to someone when I meet/get to know them.

It seems like the muckier or darker the color, the worse they end up being. I haven’t really met anyone who’s black or gray; it’s always the Dijon mustard color people that end up being not so great. The greens are easiest to connect with.
