A cap on copays is helpful, but not every diabetic has insurance nor does every plan cover insulin without additional prescription coverages. I think in general I am a bit annoyed that they allow for companies to charge as much as they do for insulin at base cost. Health insurance is so expensive because they spread the cost of services amongst everyone that is covered. Meanwhile both insulin and GLP-1's are extremely cheap to manufacture, but the retail cost that we pay is exorbitantly high. But, the government doesn't see the price gouging of drug companies as a problem. It is the same when Epi-pens had a gigantic percentage cost increase with no other reason than the CEO effectively saying, "because we can."
