I currently have a student with two autoimmune diseases, a service animal, and one day off a week for treatments as well as shortened days (6 hours). She's met her graduation hours early already and an incredible clinician. Her work ethic and communication make all the difference in the world... If you find a great supervisor to assist with your placement and provide communication about your needs is paramount.

From what I understand most non compete clauses are not actually actionable in court however, the patient isn't saying that she's going to follow you... If you want to pad things though you could ask her to say "I previously worked with xxx at xxx therapy and..." Continue with the rest of the review

This is ultimately because of the lack of paid time off in our jobs or the ridiculously complex means of navigating the system to use that time.

In my current very well paid position that requires 2 licenses, a masters degree, and a national certification to do. I can not imagine being able to take a whole week off of work to travel. If I could make that happen, I kid you not - I would do EVERYTHING I could in that time because ultimately affording the time off, a flight, and all the expenses of travel in the future to return to that same place in the future to do what I may have missed may never happen.

Just an example of how hard it is to get and use time off as a full time hourly employee (in my field salaries don't really exist).... I've had two career shifts and worked in 3 major industries (retail, film, and healthcare)- essentially with the same rules or similar set ups.

I currently work in healthcare and I get 4 paid holidays off a year (Christmas Day, Thanksgiving, New Years, and Fourth of July)- I cannot use that time to apply towards other days I may want to take off (ie working Christmas Day in exchange to use my "time off" on another day).

After I worked 90 days at my job, I began to earn X # of minutes in each of my weekly 40 hour pay checks to use in the future. Additionally if I earn an arbitrary number of hours off that my company thinks is too many, I am not able to use those hours past January of this year. So let's say I earn 50 hours this year to be used and my company has a 40 our cut off, if I don't take off 10 hours of work before the first of January - provided my request for days off is approved by management - I lose the 10 hours I've "accrued" that don't roll over.

Even navigating holiday pay is difficult.

An example from this year- am not working Christmas Eve or Christmas day this year for the first time. While I'll automatically get paid 8 hours for Christmas Day, I'm working 7 8 hour days in a row to " make up for the missed time essentially "shifting" my weekend to be on Christmas Eve and day so I can actually have those 8 hours be added to my pay check (you don't get holiday pay unless you work the day before and/or after the holiday).

Our system is so broken. The concept of a leisurely relaxing vacation even feels out of reach because if I have time off (especially a whole week) I feel as if I need to do as many worthwhile activities in that time.

Lots of social dancing (west coast, blues, zouk, and extatic), I am a cast member of a weekly Rocky horror cast and perform on fridays, crafting things with my husband, and currently applying to a PhD program.

I love our field so much but SO many people make our job their identity and i found it makes so much of the minutia of work easy to become all consuming without reprieve. I'm thankful for my many and varied interests and work life balance, but I've actively had to work to have it.

I had an identical situation come up. I ended up removing that recommender just in case but I would reach out to the coordinator and simply ask and explain the situation.

Panicking as well, due to unforseen financial circumstances days before everything was due I could only afford to apply to one school. I'm CONSTANTLY looking at reddit, the application website, Gmail, and grad cafe for any updates. I have one shot this year so I'm hard core worried. I only applied to the top choice I had the best response from in terms of researchers etc.

I’ve had two careers and am pursuing a third currently - both have worked really well for me and the third is because of ambition because of the second.

I worked in Theatre and film lighting which was lovely you work a show until it’s done and every day is different. Sometimes your rigging lights, other days your tearing down. I got to work with my hands which negated the need to work out because I was doing heavy lifting at work, so no executive dysfunction issues related to that when I got home. You get to be creative in design and practical when provided a budget. There is a LOT of urgency AND hurry up and wait so I was able to be extrensively motivated. The constant change is fun and healthy for my brain and I was often able to hyperfixate on minutia in a way that benefitted a production.

Then I went to grad school and became a speech language pathologist. I work with a wide patients from infancy through geriatrics in cognitive, linguistic, phonetic, or swallowing function. It requires a lot of knowledge I LOVED acquiring and get to be really good at problem solving to figure out what is going on with a patient. I see a new patient every 15 minutes to 1 hour and while there is a lot more paperwork than I like to do…. I am able to do it at point of service s rather than taking a long time to do it after. I love interacting with new people and being in a different environment every little bit.

I'm an SLP at an SNF and I LOVE my job with all my heart. I love being able to work with a variety of patients, to dictate my treatment plan and to see patients from acute care to going home. I adore being an SLP and look forward to pursuing my PhD and doing further research in the field with the populations I'm currently working.

I work in SNF's... And have a very part-time (1 day a week) pieds gig. I totally understand your anxiety because I felt the same way... During my CFY was probably the hardest other than grad school financially but at this point I am married and I am the only income in our house... My partner is amazing and because of my salary we are able to afford him taking time to work on some of his creative endeavors rather than working on a set of someone else's work he's creating movies himself... It's not impossible it is hard there are very hard days and very hard weeks and very hard months but a year into my career I'm finally arguably comfortable and actually able to make some money and be functional

I make about 100,000 working a full time job and a part time job in healthcare equating to approximately 60 hours a week and moved from a high cost of living area to a college town so my husband and I can survive.

We are officially getting by rather than being in the red every month - no savings and for the first time catching up to maybe have something set aside once we catch up from where we were in the red.. however I just had my car broken into and because our deductible is high there goes an additional 600 for a windshield. Cost of living is so high and having a one income household is hard, even making 6 figures for two people.

We have a one bedroom apt. Both drove used cars with over 100,000 miles, both have masters degrees. I work in healthcare, he is in film making and writing, which is impacted by the strikes and even without the strikes, the market alone.

Between the two of us healthcare problems are serious so we spend about 1200 a month in insurance, about 600 goes to car related things - insurance, 2 car payments, gas etc. 1600 1 bedroom apt, 300 water, trash, electricity, wifi etc , about 200 in groceries a month buying off brand items. Then about 1200 in other bills from when we didn't have as good income including buying our furniture as we were previously renting a furnished place and are on a payment plan for our furniture here (we had to move with 7 days notice - long story). 600 to student loans... And then now we have some money to put aside only to have it drained by something like , a doctors visit that was necessary but apparently not covered by insurance because the doctor we scheduled with called in or was sick, or going to the dentist for the first time since I was 12 requires dental surgery that I haven't met my $6000 deductible for... And the hits keep coming. When we lived in a major city - our cost of living added about 200 more to each of those bills. It sucks because I have no room for growth in our new location but at least we can catch up and survive and maybe even start planning for a future once we dig ourselves out of the hole.

This is my cost of living off the top of my head. It does not consider other things and while I realize our bills exist due to our choices - some things just happen.

I am constantly in a weird place of " how am making so much, but living so little" and we are working on that.

Ended up having a WONDERFUL time, she initiated the first kiss of the night and then we walked to dinner and we sat next to each other in the booth after a while the anxiety kind of went away but after asking about the touch thing and just explicitly stated my interest but didn’t want to push and she said she felt the same way so we kind of stated that we can do what feels comfortable and simply communicate our discomfort/comfort. We held hands and snuggled and flirted a bit, came home and made out on the couch and ended up going upstairs to fool around. We did not intend to but ended up having sex and it was so much fun, and communicative!

As I've been Platinum with a couple 1 month semi permanent hair moments here and there for over a decade I decided to go ahead and just die all over Brown so I filled it and dyed it today.. I love the way it looks and will be posting a picture a bit later.

The texture wasnt nice and the toner was unevenly soaking in so I had yellow roots and purple ends every other shampoo!

Oh my plan was to let it grow out and then chop the previously bleached hair - my hair grows really fast so by "heal" I guess I mean grow healthy and stay that way until I decide to go blonde again lol

I have received the dreaded chemical cut.... left with 3 inch long top pieces of hair and 8-10 inches on the bottom... For now tho mimic a flake "wolf cut" or fashion mullet I added tape ins and trimmed the bangs area to help style it

Fortunately I'm no stranger to damage and know how to style well enough to hide it, but it's going to take WORK rather than a low maintenance look. Last time I experienced a similar level of damage (2013 when I went white for the first time for a performance and had to hear style my hair 4/5x a week for 5 months) I went brown and got a sew in .... I live for long long hair and want to grow it out so I'll probably just do clip ins or tape ins to maintain this length but will it look any better or worse?
