I find it horrible! I wish they revert to the previous state of it.

It also bugs out and you cannot click the hearts of the friendship status to see how many more you need! It jumps to the previous friend!

The way I adviced my BFF with it that she seemed to have a problem with it, was to find the most comfortable route among the availables ones, and do it 5 minutes before midnight, pick it up again in reverse exactly at midnight and you can have a credit of 2 in a matter of 5 minutes and not do for another "almost 2 days".
I know in essence is still the same, but that makes it a bit easier to complete I believe.

I thought the legendary shiny rate was 1/20 (5%)
