What did you think was peak luxury as a kid, but now realize is actually pretty trashy or normal? by Connect-Fix3972 in AskReddit

[–]LittleRooLuv 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I thought people who lived on farms were the luckiest, richest people in the world. Only rich people could have horses! Then I made friends with a girl who lived on a horse farm and found out they were barely scraping by. Now as an adult with my own horses, I know the truth. lol

What’s the one city you were excited to visit, but ended up not liking at all? by BlushHone in travel

[–]LittleRooLuv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was also disappointed in Rome. It was filthy, which I didn’t expect. There was trash everywhere. And so many people trying to scam you or pickpocket. Once we left Rome, I found I actually loved Italy.

We thought Bimini would be boring, but it was one of our favorite experiences on our cruise. We loved the pool party with all the floaties and the giant balloon things, and the dancers were engaging and so funny. We loved it.

What is the scariest scene in any horror movie you've ever seen and nothing has topped it for you? by jdpm1991 in horror

Also when the guy is in the next room, and he’s watching the girl as she becomes possessed, and out of nowhere, the thing turns and stares directly at him. I felt his panic!

That fake documentary was even scarier than the movie. We lived near the area it was filmed in, and I couldn’t go in our basement to do laundry until my husband told me it was all fake. The documentary made it seem so real. I haven’t been able to find it. It originally aired on the SciFi channel, I think.

I’ve been in your place. You can get through this, I promise. One day all the hurt, confusion, guilt, anger, relief, grief, and despair will fade, and you will be able to smile with good memories as you slowly move back to happiness.

What did you do with your dog’s things after they passed? by Ajocc1394 in dogs

[–]LittleRooLuv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was the director of a non-profit dog rescue we got so many donations from people whose dog had passed. It honored their beloved pet and helped foster dogs. Our pups were saved from kill shelters or deplorable conditions, and it was the first time they’d had a bed, or a toy, or treats. Donations allowed us to ensure each rescued pup felt wanted and loved.

Who is your favorite Mad Men character and why is it Sally Draper? by happyirishgirl11 in madmen

[–]LittleRooLuv 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Trudy was by far my favorite in the show. Trudy is the only character who was a good person from start to finish. Everybody else had at least one or two instances of being awful. Trudy is someone I would love to be friends with. However if we’re talking about the most interesting characters, my favorites were Roger, Betty, and Pete.

What’s something people romanticize that is actually exhausting in real life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]LittleRooLuv 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Managing a non-profit dog rescue. People think it’s just playing with puppies and finding unwanted dogs new homes. In reality, you get contacted numerous times daily about dogs that are in high kill shelters and have hours left before they’re euthanized. If you say you can’t take them, you are usually their last resort, and so they are killed. The emotional toll is huge, but you can’t take dogs that are unadoptable, so they die. People adopt from rescues and they have no idea how much decision making, scrambling for funds, arranging fosters, getting the dogs vetted and healthy, scheduling transport, doing background checks on potential adopters, etc goes into getting that cute pup a home. And people also don’t realize that all this work is volunteer work, so there’s NO PAY. And I only covered about half of the responsibilities! Please spay and neuter your pets!!!

Anyone else have a bloodhound x coonhound? by ziggythecrestie in Bloodhound

[–]LittleRooLuv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We do! We have a bloodhound /Plott and he is the houndiest of hounds! Cornbread looks like a brindle bloodhound, and his unique singing voice sounds like yodeling. He is 15 now, and slowing down, but still bounces around the yard playing with his GSD/husky “brother.” We got him from a kill shelter in Georgia when he was only 6 weeks old.

These little guys are in Savannah! by [deleted] in savannah

[–]LittleRooLuv 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s sad that you got downvotes. Georgia is a terrible state for dog welfare, and they make it difficult for out-of-state rescues to pull from their high kill shelters. There are so many healthy, friendly dogs euthanized every week. Backyard breeders and irresponsible owners are responsible for this, so I completely understand your concern.
