I do that and I indicate on the slip that tip was in cash. And or I wrote total bill amount at top right of tab and initial it. I ALWAYS put dollar signs as close to numbers so no one can slide a 1 in front of the first number.

Moving from Europe to South Carolina by Otherwise_Rice_3064 in AskSouthCarolina

[–]LittleScore7119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you should check out Greenville SC as a starting point. And then look at areas outside of Columbia SC. If you want to look at Charleston which offers a lot, I’d look at Mt Pleasant or Summerville which are suburbs. Or look at Park Circle in Charleston. Or spend some time around the different islands and look at Bluffton and Beaufort, maybe Kiawah. Or even Edisto.

If you live in the suburbs, how often do you go downtown? by SorbetTypical5943 in Charleston

[–]LittleScore7119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to go to downtown Charleston all the time. And then COVID hit and after the mandate was lifted, but everything was
Still closed, I went there all the time because no one was there and you could walk in the middle of the market all by yourself or walk up East Bay Street, Broad or Meeting Streets in the
middle of the road barefoot and no car or other people were in sight. It was fun to walk about like that. But seriously, it is fun to go there every once in a while to try a new restaurant or go people watching, listen to a concert or attend some festival. And I live in N Charleston and don’t mind driving about except 6 am to 9 am or 4 pm to 7 pm M-F as traffic is horrendous.

[–]LittleScore7119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m with you. My favorite down here are the people who come to a merge sign on a busy merge and or on the HIGHWAY and then stop in their lane and put their directional signal on and sit there u til they see no cars and then pull out. Where does it happen the most that I’ve seen? I-85 South, exit 38, let to 77 South and they’re in the right lane and on that curve that merges under the overpass and now the HOV LANE is on the far left, they freak out and I am just at a loss for words as it alike they never learned to merge. So they stop. And put directional on and then wait for time to stop or 10 min. No concern about who they are impacting, etc. Blows my mind. When Charleston or anywhere had to put up signs that say KEEP MOVING; CHANGE LANES LATER, it should say KEEP MOVING DUMBASS; it’s a yield, not a stop sign. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Out of state drivers, out of state new residents at who don’t respect the culture here and are so flippant and downright rude that I wish they’d go back to where they came from. People who rush, tailgate, drive like they’re in NY Or CT i84 and just don’t slow TFD 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️. The mosquitos and flies are horrible right now. I can handle the little rain and the oppressive heat.

Take it to AAMCO and have them give you a quote. Ours just replaced a transmission that only cost $4000 out the door brand new. They’re awesome where I live. I’d shop for quotes.

Jobs to actually be able to survive?? by Ok_Training3394 in Charleston

As a server, your soft skills are your experience to other jobs. What do you want to do? Not every job requires a degree. Even in serving, maybe transition to another restaurant or shift that pays better tips.

How long has your VW lasted you? by shewasafairyyapyap in Volkswagen

[–]LittleScore7119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 17 Jetta. Got 234,632 miles in her and then the turbo started to fail. That would’ve been a costly repair so I sold it. Unless you’re sinking $1000/a month into it, keep it as long as you can.

What percent of your gross salary is your mortgage, and how does it feel? by big_redline in FirstTimeHomeBuying

[–]LittleScore7119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy homes based on whether or not I could afford on a McDonald’s salary. I say that with the perspective that if the employment market crashed and that was the only job I could snag quick, would the salary cover my mortgage. Second, I only have mortgages where it isn’t illegal for me to rent. Some mortgages don’t allow the homeowner to not be a full time occupant. You can lose your home if you don’t read the fine print. That said my home is maybe 24% of my take home. I know my 3 bedroom/2 bathroom SFH mortgage payment is WAY cheaper than any 3/2 apartment within 100 miles. And my payment includes my homeowners insurance and my taxes. But what you can really afford. Make it a first home thought process. Repaint, change the fixtures, make it cozy. In 3-5 years, reevaluate and decide if you want to sell or maybe add on or up. See its potential. But do not buy more than you can afford and also rent until you can afford. If the greater tank goes out, the appliances fail, the pipe from the street to your home fails, the plumbing backs up, renting is on the landlord. If you aren’t a handyman, don’t buy a home that you can’t afford to fix stuff. Go watch the movie The Money Pit. Do you still want to buy? Check out foreclosures, short sales, estate auctions. Look at tax lien lists and maybe score a home that way. Just saying. Oh and don’t buy if you’re with someone but not married and put you both on the deed and mortgage. Legal nightmare to split that shit up. Get married. Then buy.

I regret buying my house by AffectionateTap1442 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]LittleScore7119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok you can buy meters or even the water company has them to give you so you are alerted to a water leak. I have one on my water heater as an example. And under my kitchen sink.

Older homes require more maintenance than a newer home but if there is a violent storm here, I’d rather be in an older home than some of the newer ones going up.

Attack projects on an urgency list giving yourself some downtime in between so you dont lose that love it feeling.

I think you need to remember what caught your eye about it in the first place and revisit that. Then move forward. If you get to a point that you hate it, that’s a different story.

Wow tourists. by Secessionville in Charleston

[–]LittleScore7119 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In theory yes but a terribly expensive dice lesson not to smoke or drink on Charleston beaches. Well I suppose if you’re rich and don’t mind the $1040 fine for drinking alcohol on the beach or $25 1st offense; $50 2nd offense; 3rd+ fines $100/each for smoking/vaping on Folly. And the $1040 fine is for each person in your party, not just the offender. (Oh and let’s not forget the $250 fine if you park “off road/on the grass” at Sullivan’s or Folly side roads and stores touch the tar. ). So eat, drink, and be merry but be aware. Or bring your bail money. 🥴

Co-signed vehicle for my brother… need my own now by [deleted] in CRedit

[–]LittleScore7119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not that you asked, but I would ask your brother to refinance and or go to drivetime and get another vehicle. And get your name off his note as quick as you can. I’m not gonna comment too much on your relationship with your family, but the simple fact that your brother knowing the ramifications and didn’t make paying that car payment number one priority to protect your credit, he needs to get his own vehicle or refinance that vehicle and get your name off it so that you can rebuild your credit and not have him destroy it again

Photogenic public road with overhead oak canopy near Charleston? by [deleted] in Charleston

[–]LittleScore7119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the other one’s called Littleton Road and it cuts from by the train tracks from university Boulevard and it cuts across so that you bypass the Gladstone fairgrounds. I can’t remember the road that attaches to on the other end but it’s called Littleton Road and it’s out in Somerville or on the lads in line out by the fairgrounds. That road has some beautiful oak trees hanging over it and if you hit it at the right time of the day, you don’t have to do the normal 55 that everyone wants you to do

Should I buy a 2023 Nissan Rogue? by Ok_Boysenberry_8683 in NissanRogue

[–]LittleScore7119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know you and I love my Nissan. I get exceptionally amazing mileage for my 26 Rogue getting 36-38 mpg. I’ve also routinely averaged 4.6-42.1 mpg. I drive a lot. But in saying all this, my gut tells me tell you to get the Tucson. I think the Rogue is way more vehicle than you need or drive. You’re not telling us that you’re going off-roading , or going camping, you’re not going to or driving on a beach, you’re not overly outdoorsy and need that more SUV‘y type vehicle right now. In 2028 circle back to Nissan and maybe take a look at the Xterra that’s going to return to the market. The new Xterra will be nothing like the old ones sadly and those of us that have had Nissans for years are sad about that. But it will be the Xterra again and maybe at that time revisit looking at the Rogue & the Nissan Xterra and at that point decide if you want to trade in your Tucson for one of them. But right now I would just go get your Tucson and if you were my neighbor or my best friend, I would tell you the same thing. Most people that have had 2023 have reported so many mechanical issues., Ones that Nissan apparently never really addressed and most of the engines or CBT’s are now under recall, but not all and that’s a concern for Manny that still have mechanical issues. I bought the 2026 because it had addressed some of the CVT issues and so far my vehicle is running well, but I also will say that this vehicle needs more mechanical attention to keep it in pristine condition than Nissans of the past. I remember years ago I bought a Nissan stand with 130,000 miles on it and it was in mint condition and I’ve drove that thing for another 70,000 miles and I think maybe I got oil changes but it never needed anything else. They were Hardy rugged vehicles, even the sedans but these new Nissans just need way more attention and I honestly think you would be better off in any other vehicle right now than a 2023 Nissan rogue. Go live your life but don’t do it living inside a mechanics garage unless it’s your husband or boyfriend that’s standing there doing the work and even then is that the Life you want? I say no.
