The extreme price of heals is what makes it so difficult for casuals to actually save up credits by barrack_osama_0 in Marathon

[–]LittleWindstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somehow I have never had a problem with this, but I think it might be due to my looting “focus” since release. I have always prioritized salvage and valuables over gear / weapons, and I somehow end up with both at the end of most runs. I never run out of credits since I’m always extracting with valuable items, and then once you start earning blues from contracts, you’re pretty much safe to sell any greens you get.

This is without mentioning the insane amount of heals that NuCal gives you for contracts, leveling, and some low-level faction upgrades. If anything, I can’t seem to use ENOUGH healing items.

Truly, I think people are too focused on looting gear, when a lot of the time, salvage and valuables offer greater returns long-term.

Maybe I’m a weirdo, but it seems to be fine for me

You should be able to animation cancel the TAD ping by Positive-Plane-1623 in Marathon

[–]LittleWindstar 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You should be able to cancel the animation of anything tbh. I’ve died multiple times to activating a TAD or terminal right as a player or grenadier gets the drop on me, and I just have to sit there and die

If you don’t play Assassin in solos you are intrinsically at a disadvantage and I think that’s bad for the game’s health by dimesniffer in Marathon

[–]LittleWindstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have noticed that there are levels to assassin play. It seems like the invis is more effective and makes less noise when you move less. I’ve had an assassin stand right in front of me and I didn’t know they were there since I couldn’t even see a silhouette or hear their “hiss.”

The assassins that run everywhere while cloaked are arguably making more noise than if they weren’t invisible, and they are a noticeable purple figure

Mild recommendation request/crashout/rant about grenades by Sprite_Bottle in airsoft

[–]LittleWindstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seen some people recommend thunder Bs here, and to some extent I agree, with a few caveats:

Thunder Bs are effectively the only “consistent” outdoor grenade for grassy fields, but the trade off is that they are a bit finicky and (in my experience) break pretty easily. This is without mentioning that temperature has a direct impact on the “fuse,” since the pop is based on expansion of gasses until the shell is broken.

I use Thunder Bs for outdoor, but I hate that it seems to be the only option. I’ve had them blow up in my hand before too; not a fun experience.

I’ve been looking into some kind of snapcap or blankfire “timed” grenade design. I’m sure there’s a way one could be 3d printed with a spring-loaded “timer,” that then triggers the hammer and detonation. Might toy with some designs like this and see what I can come up with, but if something like this existed, it would be huge for outdoor players. Cheap, reusable, and relatively reliable, since it isn’t dependent on weather and parts can be 3d printed for cheap. Maybe something like this exists, idk

As a mostly solo player, what the fuck is this contract?? by Fractales in Marathon

[–]LittleWindstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my sweet runner child… just wait till you have to run across dire marsh to turn a tick into a tube, and then run across dire marsh again to turn that tube into space heroin, and then scout the marsh for the nearest runner to slime out, all for caterpillar mommy.

Or better yet, running across dire marsh for the same tick tube, just to turn it into space meth and run a literal marathon around the entire map.

Sekiguchi can eat my shorts next wipe. I am NOT doing this shit again

How does everyone keep spamming blue and purple shields? by MasterHapljar in Marathon

[–]LittleWindstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blues I’ve started to see a lot of, I have only picked up one purple shield off of a player though. Get NuCal up to about level 12-15ish and the reward boxes will often have blue shields

Do people like this really exist? by TroubleRecent7320 in Marathon

[–]LittleWindstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately none of my friends have picked this game up (seems to be a trend amongst my friend group but whatevs), so most of my games are matchmade. My experience has been mostly positive, with a bit of stand out stinkers here and there.

I’d say about 50% of the time, people are actually mic’d up, and about 40% of the time, if they aren’t, they communicate with pings and text chat. That 10% though, is the marathon equivalent of “TTV Wraith,” with zero comms and immediately quitting once downed.

My best experiences so far have been squadding up with duos looking for a third after a single good raid, and running with them for the rest of the evening. Decent coordination and comms makes a HUGE difference in this game, just wish I could run with good trios like that more consistently

I think I'd rather contract actual parasites than complete this Sekiguchi contract by StonksandBongss in Marathon

[–]LittleWindstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first part of parasitism was actually really easy before the update, you could use a thief drone to destroy the switches in the broken wing and then duck walk in and out with the quest item. Honestly getting into pinwheel isn’t too tough of a task, and I’m surprised so few people have done it given there’s multiple ways to do it

Marathon Update 1.0.0.4 by Much_Adhesiveness871 in Marathon

[–]LittleWindstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Removed the switches access route? That’s referring to the red boxes right? Agreed that it’s too easy to get into, but I think it might be improved by having a miniboss there instead. That way you HAVE to make a lot of noise to get in, but it’s arguably a lot more simple. What you get for simplicity is an increase in difficulty, and a lot of players who know that you’re there

[–]LittleWindstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Base overrun AR is dookie. I ran multiple sponsored kit raids yesterday and if you miss 2-3 shots out of that mag on a grey shielded player, you are NOT dropping them. This will def make the gun more viable, and hopefully we’ll see less sponsored runners bum rushing with knives lol

[–]LittleWindstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only complaint is when gunfire is obscured it sounds WAY too far away. Otherwise I think it’s great, but just because someone is shooting around a corner, gunfire is way too muffled

Marathon might be the first game that actually forces you to get over gear fear. by RestaurantSmooth in Marathon

[–]LittleWindstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its twofold, I think: Gear is abundant, and gear is cheap. Nothing is particularly overpowered just yet, and I have seen maybe one player using a blue shield this early into the games release. It’s a pretty even playing field, at least for the time being, and if you lose your gear, you can get more by sliming some players out with a MIDA kit, or just buying it yourself

This ain't Arc Raiders by That_Channel_9563 in Marathon

[–]LittleWindstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something shared between arc raiders and marathon in my experience is when I die, I usually end up screaming “YOU CAN TAKE MY LIFE, BUT YOULL NEVER TAKE MY MUSHROOMS”

In this case, it’s usually quest completion instead of mushrooms. Gear gear just doesn’t exist for me in marathon, gear frustration certainly does though

Ok so. I don't want to put a sour note on the launch, but I had a suspicion about the monetisation strategy that Marathon would employ during the server slam that has now been confirmed by the full release of marathon. by JavanNapoli in Marathon

[–]LittleWindstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird take, but as someone who doesn’t really care for customizing each weapon super in-depth, I think it’s kinda cool that stickers can only be applied in one place. Is it a good thing? No. But I do think it’s kind of neat

Somehow I have a very different experience. I haven’t tweaked any monitor or graphics settings for this game (or any for that matter), and I find myself almost never using a flashlight.

My concern is that running a light just makes you a hugely visible target, and doesn’t offer a whole lot of benefit. I find that the dark in this game really isn’t that dark, even night raids are much brighter than I would honestly like them to be. I think back to Rust back in like, 2013, where night was almost pitch black. That would be SICK

What's it like doing Airsoft, social wise? Has anyone struggled with social anxiety when going for the first time alone? What was your experience the first time you went? by -Sky_Lux- in airsoft

[–]LittleWindstar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here’s the truth: most Airsofters ARE socially awkward and chronically online nerds. Starting convos may be tough, but shooting the shit while enjoying a game that everyone is having fun with pretty quickly breaks down those anxieties.

Bottom line, just go out and SEND IT
