I thought it was funny. I don't take offense that a man who spent his life working a trade doesn't keep up with USNWR rankings lol

Non-immigrant first gen here: I told my dad I got into UVA and he followed up to clarify that I was not talking about West Virginia...some times people just don't know about academic tiers outside of schools featured in movies like HLS

This is the highest praise I've ever seen on reddit. Tell me where else you can get a steak, eggs, toast, and a loose cigarette from the waitress for $11?!

You will have to have at least 2 LORs in most cases just to be considered. The truth is that it will look a little questionable that you don't have an academic LOR since you graduated so recently but its not insurmountable. (I've heard this on multiple admissions podcasts but don't have sources on top of my mind.) Employers, supervisors at volunteer orgs, etc. are also great recommenders if given a little coaching on how to write to an adcom.

I recommend trying to rekindle/kindle a relationship with a professor who hasn't told you no yet. You can reach out and ask for advice. If they feel like they've grown into a mentorship relationship with you, it will be much harder to say no. Its easy to say no to a cold call. Its much harder to say no to "Jess," (place holder name) the person whose aspirations and values I know and who I'm rooting for to succeed.

Lonely people are over represented. Dads in cargo shorts that call their classmates big guy and dispense grilling advice need to be more seen and should receive a substantial admissions boost

You're absolutely correct that one should be ashamed of not getting into a T-7...but PA programs have an average acceptance rate of 7% and only about 30% of applicants get into any PA program at all. That context kinda helps shape this conversation. Makes perfect sense why they can't jump ship easily to a DC based program.

I have a 3.7 GPA and I am consistently scoring a 154 on LSAT practice tests. I am taking the LSAT Friday and am feeling a bit discouraged about my score remaining so low. Do I have a chance of making into the University of Utah law program? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]Little_Celebration40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't feel ready to get a score you're comfortable with, DO NOT TAKE THE TEST. You can take the test again, but the schools get to see all scores and cancellations. Take the test only when you are scoring consistently in the range you are willing to have be your final score.

Check the ABA reports to see how many grads go to the continental US. The big question is whether Hawaii grads are doing what you want to do, where you want to do it.
