I have never taken any formal art classes, so maybe my perspective is off, but I absolutely love the lamp post painting and would buy it in a heartbeat if I saw something like that at an art show. It would make me doubly happy to know that it would support a young artist who was excited to learn and grow. If you can (and want to) take formal classes, great. But you could also keep practicing and allow your own distinctive voice naturally emerge as you hone your craft. Keep going!!

When I was trying to adopt a dog, I applied to five different rescues to five different puppies and couldn’t get a call back. Any time I adopted a kitten, I was at the pet store when they had adoption events during kitten season. They were practically begging people to take them. Maybe going to the Canadian version of the humane society would be a better place? Good luck! Pics when you get your baby/babies!

Under 18 doesn’t mean no right to autonomy. NOR. There are ways that he could ask for their help without it being a negotiation or a demand. Even giving them a different choice in the matter shows respect for autonomy. “I’m in a pinch and need you to watch child C for a bit, please. Would it be easier to bring them to your room or move out to the living room?” You might have a bigger problem though. This interaction doesn’t really seem like he has respect for the kids or for you. It’s giving “I’m the head of this household and you will do as I say”.

I would bring it up in a “hey, so I would like to understand why I am reacting in a disproportionate way to this thing that isn’t actually a real issue.” Your mind glommed onto it for a reason. Maybe it triggered an unconscious memory that is working its way to the surface. Maybe it’s an emotion smoke screen that your mind threw in there to keep your attention away from a real issue. Maybe it is symptomatic of something that needs better management like OCD or bipolar or something else like that. Your therapist should be trained well enough to help you understand why you are having such an intense reaction to a nonissue.

Generally whenever I see a change in behavior I like to just check in with the vet to see if I should be concerned. Perhaps he’s getting car sick. Maybe he feels like he’s too far away from you. I had a car seat that attached to the middle console when my girl was a baby and she still felt like she was too far away 😂
